2017 Ducati Monster 1200 Series Looks Like Fun

The venerable Monster, Ducati’s all-time best seller, gets a few tweaks and upgrades for 2017. Styling is slightly revised with a more sculpted fuel tank, and performance gets a bump from the Testastretta DS engine with new exhaust plumbing and throttle bodies. Horsepower is up to 150 at 9250 rpm.

The 1200S has the benefit of adjustable Ohlins suspenders at both ends, while the base model makes do with a Sachs shock and Kayaba fork. The S also gets the superior Brembo M50 brake calipers, but both models feature the Ducati Safety Pack with Bosch Cornering ABS, DTC and DWC. A-OK? The two also share the rest of the latest Ducati electronics package.


The 1200R remains at the top of the Monster mountain with 160 horsepower and forged wheels for a 10-pound weight loss. The base model Monster 1200 lists for $14,695, the Monster 1200 S at $16,995, and $19,095 for the Monster 1200 R.
