Busted Shift Knuckle - DOH!

Anyone else bust one of these? It broke the other day, thankfully only a few blocks from home and I was in 3rd gear so I managed to baby it home.

As you can see by the image it is two pieces that were joined BY ONLY ONE WELD in the lower right corner.

I haven't heard anyone else discuss this problem before, maybe my single spot welded shift knuckle is a fluke... I hope so anyways.

But anyways, it is steel, so I broke out the mig-welder and properly welded both sides of it and put it all back together.

I have not, but I have managed to flip the shifter (knuckle ends up in the same position, but the shifter is flipped towards the rear. I'm not really sure how that happened... Transmission still works fine. Hopefully I didn't damage the shift drum or anything crazy like that.
