I personally have never dropped my bike....Megan's idiot sister put her 2 year old on the bike and she dropped it while she was holding him and it was on the kickstand. Neither she nor the baby were hurt, but other than that I have never dropped it personally.

I Have Crashed/Dropped My Ninjette... V2.0

Alex I think a reset of the poll is in order so that those 227 liar's (myself included) can be more accurate about their crash statistics

I'm not sure if you can reset kkim's poll or merge this poll into it or w/e, do whatever you think is best but I think it's time for a more accurate measure of our crashers

So you crashed your bike, no big deal, it happens to the best of us, but mostly the worst of us.

Oh yea Version 1.0

I like this poll more than the other one; the options are more specific. I will vote once I've been riding for a longer period of time.

my first and only wreck was on the ninjette i built from scrap i had been riding for about 5 months and had arrived at the mall early to open my old shop. so i decided to practice slalom style in one of the empty parking garages. didnt think about the fact that street sweepers leave dirt in between poles when they sweep it out of the garage . so after about 4 mins i hit a patch and slid the bike to a sudden stop, and only injured my pride. lol.

I've dropped my first bike, a 1982 CB450T PLENTY of times while moving it around the yard. Only damages ever sustained were broken off bar end mirrors, which I didn't mind too much because they were $5 for a pair. I'm glad it was with this bike I learned even something simple as pushing it across the yard requires paying attention and thought.

I've never dropped my Ninja. The previous owner(s) did though. Levers had the ends broken off, some scrapes on my plastics, scrapes on the bar ends and missing front signals told the tale. Now the only evidence left is the scraped plastics (which isn't obviously visible) and scraped bar ends.

I've still got lots of time ahead of me though. I'm sure I will someday.

I don't see why we need multiple polls for the same topic. It's a question that is asked point in time, that is always going to be inaccurate as people then go out and crash into teenagers turning in front of them. The fix is a mod that would allow people to change their votes. I haven't found one yet, but I have seen a vbulletin forum where the function was enabled, so perhaps this will encourage me to look harder.

My drop (on the first day) didn't do any damage other than to my confidence.

I walked the ninja across the street to a large parking lot and attempted to mount it. Something went bad in this process and the bike leaned over beyond that point-of-no-return.

I desperately tried to lift the ninja back upright but it was slowly getting the better of me and finally it touched down softly.

My wife laughed at me, I picked the ninja up, and I mounted successfully (the bike).

Haven't dropped her since! (the ninja or the wife)

Well, I crashed 3 months after getting her. Didn't see stupid pothole until I was in it which disturbed the hell out of me. --My Fault

Crashed this morning into the side of an SUV. He turned sharply without a signal. Smelling like weed on top of that. --My Fault yet again.

Although it was nice of him to offer one of his bikes to me, i declined. I want my b**** healed/fixed. Luckily she is a ride or die b****. Getting close to the latter tho lol. Drove her to work with a hanging blinker.

OK - here's a rebump with a great new addition. We can now "unvote" on polls, so you can change your vote to one that is now accurate. Just in case your status in this poll (or any other) changes over time.

/two poll threads merged. If you haven't voted in this poll, get to it. If you have voted but your answer is now wrong, just click "unvote" underneath the poll and correct as necessary.

I dropped my 2002 green Ninja 250 the day I got it (July 2009) just walking it up the driveway because I didn't expect the weight. My friend drove it home for me so I had no idea how it really felt. I've dropped it in a similar manner a few times since then.

As for an actual crash, that was about 2 months after I bought the bike. I decided I wanted to go on a morning joyride. I had found a map of good riding maps online and one was really close to me so I went to check it out. This was altogether a bad idea because I was still a very new and inexperienced rider, I was alone, and I had never been on this road before even by car. It turned out to be a single lane, curvy road behind the hills that I was really not prepared for (Calaveras Rd starting from I-680). Ended up taking a turn too wide and went head on into the side of a cliff.

Bottom fairing snapped in half, forks and triple clamp bent, bent clutch lever, broken left turn signal, and broken left foot peg. My helmet visor was dented and the chin vent piece had broken off. However, I didn't have any visible marks on me. I was wearing full gear so that probably helped. Found out later I had internal bleeding but I recovered without complications. I fixed up the bike and still own it. Frame wasn't damaged at all.

Actually, a rider on a red pre-gen Ninja 250 stopped to check up on me after I crashed and stayed with me until I got a ride out of there. Dunno if you're on this forum, but thanks for stopping!

@tfkrocks: you're a tough cookie to keep on riding after those initial drops / cliff incident!! I went wide on a corner, on a lone joy-ride type excursion too. Fate handed me a soft ditch instead of a hard cliff though. How you finding your new 300? Does it feel nicer to ride than your pregen 2fiddy?

Or crazy depending on who you're asking :P I don't think the seriousness of the injury really ever set in since there wasn't visible damage on me.

I am definitely loving the 300. Totally noticeable improvement over the pregen-250. I think I found the bike I'm gonna keep!

damn kickstand

The day i bought it, I went to the gas station to fill it up. I thought i put the stand down, and only put it halfway down, got off and it fell over on me, and bent the clutch lever a little. other than that my ego was mostly damaged that day.

Had it for a month but had only been riding for a week or so. Needed gas so i went the the corner gas station. Now this station has 4 entrances/exits. Pulled in and had cars come in at me from every one, lost my balance and went down. Thank god for frame sliders, no damage to the bike just a seriously wounded pride for me.... And i still had to get gas.....

It would be interesting to see how this poll looks when adding in the factor of who took a msf course and who didn't.
