Chirping/squealing noise under acceleration

Hey guys, I'm normally able to diagnose most bike issues but this one truly has me stumped:

My 2009 has recently developed a regularly repeating chirp/squeak noise under acceleration when the clutch is engaged (1/2-1s interval, louder under load). It does not happen when coasting clutch-in or when revving the engine, clutch-in. Doesn't happen at standstill either, idle or revving. I suspect it's something clutch related, but I'm not sure what. It seems to be coming from below the seat somewhere, but I can't narrow it down to either side of the engine.

Worn clutch plates?

And no, it's not the gas tank vent... I love that noise and know it well

have you inspected your chain for tight spots?

Not yet, but it's a good lead. Thanks.

I wonder why the sound would vanish while coasting?

less strain is put on the chain when coasting. you would probably hear it if you have it up on stands and spin the wheel with your ear next to the pinion

The bike has 24k km on it, it might very well be new chain/sprocket time.

I agree, it seems to be transmission related (gears, bearings, sprockets, chain,.....even swing-arm pivot).

Alex's is a great idea.

You can mimic under-load-condition by applying rear brake while accelerating and releasing clutch.

Verified/fixed issue: I'm slacking on my chain clean/lubing. Thanks guys!

Based on this one, I'm compiled a complete list of issues (99% coverage) that one can ever have with a Ninja 250, along with solutions:

1) Noises - The chain is not lubed.
2) Handling - Tire pressures are low.
3) Performance - Bad gas.
