A tribute to Saab
TTAC just put out a very good tribute to Saab:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...y/#more-422979 Some of the comments are even more amazing than the article itself... like the third comment from the top. It expresses feelings shared by many bike riders: "... They will be missed because they required more than a 3000 mile jaunt to Jiffy Lube. SAABs needed more than anything put out by Tokyo and most vehicles out of Detroit. SAABs needed you. Rarely do today’s brands ask from their drivers an actual relationship with their cars. Today’s cars don’t need you because they have been designed to be ignored by you, yet put out a few hundred thousand miles, and be sold off with a respectable resale price to another driver who will ignore the car. If you think a car’s only purpose is to drive from point A to point B, without it intruding into your life, then Tokyo, Detroit and most any other European brand can do that for you, and then disappear into the wallpaper. SAABs needed their drivers... " |

Maintenance might be delayed for awhile...
(Saab AB is separate from Saab Automobile AB; and the airplane company is doing relatively fine.)

I was never a Saab fan, but as a car buff, I always found their cars interesting. I was talking cars with a friend yesterday and we wondered if GM had found a buyer for Saab. I guess not. So many well-known automobile names fell victim to the economy.

Never was a big fan of SAAB. I have my few brands I'll stick to. Regardless, many cars "need" their drivers.

I had a SAAB Sonett III, 1971. It was a great little sports car. I reluctantly sold it to help pay for Grad. School
