Question 250r and being tall (6ft 4)

Hi

Newbie here, I'm interested in the ninja 250 because of the low cost of registration , looks etc.

the motorcycle registration cost in quebec are criminal, example over 1000$ per year for the registration of a sport bike over 600cc..... (insane)

I sat on a ninja 250r at a motorcycle show and it's seemed fine. but i keep seeing that this bike is made for short people . will i regret buying a 250r?

are you a tall rider on a ninja 250?

let me know if this is a good idea,

is there anything I can do to accommodate a taller rider.

let me know

Welcome. I am tall over 6 foot and have long legs. The best solution I have found is Buell drop pegs. They come in1 inch and two inch drop. You have to do some minor modifications to get them to fit . Like drill the pivot hole a little bit and mill them just a bit thinner.

The advantage is they allow you to get your knees under the bulge in the tank. Rear sets that you purchas only go up and back. That is good for racing . But not for riding. The drop pegs do not hang any lower than the little pins on the stock pegs.

Wood craft coupons will help if you have long arms. And a bible shield to get the wind off your chest.

I use a stock 2006 Ninja 250 and I am 6 foot 4 in tall and weight 224 pounds.

I find it to be very enjoyable and only have issues if I ride it straight for more than an 2 or 3 hours at one sitting. I find as a commuter bike where you are off and on the bike it is perfect!

The only issue I have is a slight cramping in my hip, but I just readjust my right leg so it is almost resting on the passenger pegs and the pain goes away.

I love my little Ninjette!

Sorry folks not only auto correct but I broke my glasses. Haha No bible just a windshield that is taller. Do a search on clip ons. There are a lot out there besides wood craft.

Maybe I'm missing something here but..... shouldn't having comfortably sat on the bike already answer this question?

I am 6 foot 4 exactly and 150 lbs. The bike fits me fine and the stock pegs were actually perfect. I put on some rearset adjusters and it's a little different
(mort sportier). But yeah after riding the tiny bikes in the MSF class I was amazed when I sat on the ninja and it fit fairly well. We might look a little funny :P but just get a dark smoke visor and no one will say anything

There are plenty of people that say 250's are just for girls also...but I see a bunch of swinging D1cks on this forum

Don't listen to other people....ride the bike if you like it buy it!!

The drop pegs are only if you have very long legs. I have a 36 inch inseam. With the stock pegs I feel cramped.

my comment was along the lines of " I seemed to like the position but it was for literally 1 minute" would that position be uncomfortable after an hour of riding. that is why i'm asking people that have experience with these bikes.

sorry for the confusion. btw i like taco's even though some people don't

I can assure you, you will not regret it. i am 6'5" got a 2011 ninja 250. ride it comfortably everywhere and the only comments I've heard is how good and big my bike looks...and it is bone stock. You just have to remember its a bike not a cage

My friend, who is tall, just bought a new cbr 250. If I were you, I'd go sit on that one for comparison...now obviously the ninja is better, but if the other is more comfortable and you like it (plus it's FI) then it may be more appealing.

The newgen is definitely more comfy than the pregen. The cbr is smaller than the ninja, you won't like it. Just get the ninja and enjoy it

That's funny because SS bikes are the perfect size for me. I'm nearly 5'10" and I can just flat-foot and everything is right where it should be on an SS bike.

haha, i thought the same thing! Hopefully just a typo.

I'm 6'2,185 lbs and at times feel a little big on the bike, but not uncomfortable. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but i believe the dimensions on the 650r are nearly the same as our ninjettes?

Each their own I guess... I'm 6' 1" @155 lbs, a bit over a 36 inseam and while not uncomfortable, it's not exactly perfect fit either. I find my knee position to get annoying hitting the part of tank that flares out some. Plus not as easy as other bikes to grip it with my knees/legs and go no handed (e.g. to adjust a glove or stretch hands)
To me it's not bad enough to change to clip-ons or adjustable rear-sets, mostly because I plan on upgrading next yr.

Although the dimensions of the bikes are about the same the 650 feels far more comfortable. You feel farther away from the pegs and higher up from the ground but you really aren't in all that different of a spot. The 650 is far more comfortable for commuting but I feel like the 250 is more comfortable for twisties, being tight compact and lower to the ground just feels better.

im 6' and 190lbs and for my daily commute to work it is wonderful although when i get to the straight stretch in the road to work i will sit on the back seat. It feels alot more padded so its a nice break on my rear, also it lets my legs be more at a 90 degree angle so the blood gets to flow better. I have to lean alot more forward but its not that bothersome since I would rather be on a SS.

Not mature enough to eat sausage? That's okay you'll get there. Actually since I'm skinny the wind just goes around me...unlike some other people that catch it all.
