I can't really answer this but I do know that even the 88-2007 models differ from year to year in things like gauge lights

I thought all the gauges were all the same in that time frame. The 86-87 bikes are rare. There are a few on this forum with owners that might be nice enough to try a test fit on another local forum member if you ask nicely, coordinate, and provide pics of your girlfriend...

I have seen @n4mwd (2007?) ninja and they took out turn signal lights from the gauge on his I believe....Whereas my 2001 has them. I'm sure there are some other minor things.

The parts are mostly interchangeable with a few exceptions. That does not mean that they are identical. Some of the pre-94 bikes had a different wiring harness. The post 2000 bikes have integral fuel filters and the older ones did not.

Not sure about the turn signal indicators. Mine only has one indicator light for both left and right. Are you saying the older ones had one for left and right separately?

Sorry for going off-topic, but you're saying that we don't have to cut the fuel line and add a filter?

@n4mwd

My 2001 has high beam, neutral, oil, and turn signal indicators (4 total bulbs).

The stock inline inside the hose near the carburetor. It is small and tiny and you cannot see if it is clogged. Cutting and adding a clear body filter is suggested but is not required per se.

I have two pregens and put inline filters on both and they both had the factory filter. There is also a filter in the pickup tubes on the petcock. The problem is the factory filters are really just screens and let in larger particles. The see-thru filters filter out smaller particles.

Thanks for the response guys. I had already bought a filter, so I just wanted to make sure i wasn't doing anything extra.

I know the sprocket covers swap. Forks and triples are different but may still swap as a whole similar to the J-bike ('08+) complete swap on a F-bike ('88-'07).
