Firstgear Monza Tank Bag

Anyone have an opinion on this? Will it fit on the 250?

I quite like it, especially the tankbag/backpack option. That's nice. No idea on fit though.

I wonder if you contacted Revzilla if they would know? Or the company that makes them?

I know you didn't ask but I absolutely love this bag on my 250, I got the strap version because that's what cycle gear had in stock. It's perfect because the straps tuck away when not in use and I can tighten the hell out of it when I want to go chase down a liter bike in the canyon. I don't even notice it untill I use it as a pillow for those long straits.

Revzilla staff did not know. This was the best he could do as far as fit:
It would be best to measure the surface of the tank to verify fitment. The dimensions of the Firstgear Monza Tank Bag / Backpack are 16" Length x 10" Width x 10.5" Height.

Here's I'd what the motocentric one looks like on my bike you can compare its dimensions to the first gear one and come up with an idea from the picture.

rojo, thanks for that picture. It is very helpful to picture it. I'll order it pretty soon now that I know it fits. Once again thanks!

I bought the tank bag. It is a very tall tank bag!! Here are three pictures I took to give you an idea. It looks like it is of a very nice quality and should last for a while. I have not ridden with it long enough to give a detailed review but once I do I'll update this post.
This is the side of the bike

This is taken from behind the bike

This is a view from the drivers seat - well, actually I see more than this but this is the view if I were to stand straight up instead of in a riding position.

Whoa, it is really tall. Let us know how it works! Especially at HW speed. I'd be curious if you can get your chest down enough to avoid taking a beating from the wind with that thing.

I put about 800 miles on the tank bag and this is what I think. Pros: It holds my dress shoes, glove liner kit(including wires), lunch, two drinks, and a jacket. The clear part does a good job with holding my cell phone to help me navigate. It is much more comfortable to lay on than the cold tank. It comes with a waterproof cover and the waterproof definitely works. Cons: It puts a serious damper on my MPG for highway speeds. I lose about 15 miles per gallon(more on that later). When I'm making a slow sharp turn, my hands hit the bag so it reduces my turn radius a little.

Okay so why does my MPG go down? For about 200 miles, I decided to carry my backpack instead of using the tank bag. I was getting only 42 mpg with the tank bag and when I used my backpack, I got 58 mpg. These are all highways speeds with the exception of getting off the exit and riding less than a mile to my work place(three miles from my home to exit). I used to get 68 on highway but that was during the summer and for this winter I shimmied my carbs. I remember reading that others have noticed a drop in MPG after shimmy-ing the carbs so maybe that is why there is a drop. Another reason is that maybe it was cold but last winter I was getting 55 mpg in the city so I couldn't see shimmy-ing causing such a drastic drop. I think that shimmy-ing probably caused the reduction from 68 to 58 mpg on highways. I don't tuck so that can be taken out of the equation. I think the reason why is because the bag blocks the air coming up from the bottom of the front tire through the handlebars. I figured if that is getting blocked, it could account for a pretty drastic drag problem. That is my hypothesis so you are more than welcome to give me ideas on things to test or your hypothesis.

There is no tucking with it being this tall, but it is very nice to lay on. My head doesn't bobble even on the day that the wind was hitting 31 mph gusts.

My mpg only goes down from 53mpg to maybe 48mpg but normally 50mpg but when I have on the bag I'm usually averaging 10-15mph faster then normal because I'm on a hwy. With the sport touring wind screen I can get behind the screen pretty good and if I have on a backpack as well my shadow shows a nice consistent arc from the nose to the Givi box with no gaps.

My MPG sucks overall because I'm always going 70+ and the bike has a full exhaust and proper jetting. I'm sure I can get 60mpg if I used it for more slower riding but like that's ever going to happen.

It's funny because even when I ride the Piss out of the bike for 200 miles in the canyons at 10k rmps and higher it still gets at least 48mpg.

Rojo! Great looking bike! A bit off topic here..sorry. Interested in your windscreen provider as well as the provider for your Givi box rack....and the motocentric tank bag does look perfect. I am looking to purchase these items for a 300...........
