HELP! oil leaking heavily, smoking

so while stopped at a red light I noticed an awful smell, look down and discover my engine area is smoking. Smash the kill switch, and push my sorry ass to the side of the road.i discover oil all over the road. it appears to be coming from the left side of the bike, directly over the left header. the oil was dripping onto the header, then onto the ground. I don't know anything about fixing bikes, or what could have caused this. HELP!

Oil or radiator fluid? Exactly where is it leaking from? Take a photo if you're not sure what the exact location is called.

upon further inspection:
that whole section of the bike is dirty and wet, looks oily to me but im a computer programmer, I don't know these things!
I noticed a distinct green dripping fluid, which I assume to be coolant?
the left side of the bike is so wet, I can't determine the actual source of the leak (s)
I suppose its possible that coolant is leaking onto a dirty bike giving the appearance of oil?
although honestly earlier looks looked very much like oil.
is there any diabolical process by which leaking oil would cause a coolant leak (or vice versa)?

Do you mean left side, as in the side the with the clutch lever?

See if it you are either low on Coolant or Oil. To check Coolant, remove the radiator cap, to see if you have coolant in their. Now check your Oil Glass Sight, to see if it has proper oil level.

Wipe everything down dry and clean. Fill your up coolant or oil, if either was low. Now run the engine and pinpoint the leak. You might have to remove the fairings to get a better look.

On the left side there are coolant hoses with clamps on them. They are part of your regularly scheduled maintenance checks per kawasaki.

If the clamp came loose, or the hoses deteriorated, it will leak. It could be that what you are seeing is just coolant.

Check your oil sight glass, and see if the oil level dropped. If it did...not good.

Check the levels of both oil and coolant and see which one is low. Then go through and start checking each area that's wet/dirty and see if you can find the crack. Might just be easier to take it to a bike mechanic though and have them give it a once over.

Clean the engine thoroughly and then dust it with white powder (talcum, baking soda, baby powder, etc.) Start the engine and run/ride it for a bit. Any leaks should be evident in the powder, along with their source.
