Pitbull stand advice please!

I just noticed that http://www.baysideperformance.ca has Pitbull stands on sale (and are based in Canada so I won't get raped on shipping/customs/brokerage), so I'm finally going to make the jump. I currently only have a POS wobbly rear stand that I got from a local dealer, and I don't trust it.

Questions:

1. Those who have a Pitbull rear stand, which type do you have (standard handle or forward handle), and why did you choose it over the other? Which one is easier to lift with?

2. Those who have a Pitbull front stand, which kind did you get (forklift vs steering stem) and why?

2a. If you have a steering stem front stand, which pin did you use? The chart on BaysidePerformance indicates pin #1. Just want to make sure that is correct.

3. I have seen some posts on here about how the front stand hits the front fairing while lifting. Do BOTH types of front stands do this? Which one makes the least amount of contact with the fairing? From the picture, it looks like only the steering stem one would cause issues, right?

Standard rear, stemstand front. I think I'm using a #2 pin, but #1 pin might be better. It barely touches the underside of the fairing when lifting if it's done right. The trick is to hold the wheels in place with your foot while lifting, so it lifts the bike straight up. If the wheels are allowed to roll forward a bit, the way the angle is it will push the fairing up quite a bit more up until it's all the way set. Advantage of the stemstand lift is that you can do any fork work, some of which you can't do with a stand that lifts from the fork. As a tiny benefit, the wheel can also turn right and left, so you can clean parts a bit easier.

I've got a Pitbull forward-handle rearstand.

It's the first and only motorcycle stand I've owned so I can't say anything by comparison, but I can't imagine anything easier to use than the forward-handle stand.

It's quick to use, the forward handle gives me great control the entire time as I'm able to hold the bike's left grip while I slide the stand in and jack it up.

Also, I travel for work so the bike sits a lot. The original center stand has been removed (for an Area P exhaust mod) so I store it on the Pitbull. It's easy to move the bike once it's on the stand so I can store it way back in the corner of the garage (where the wife can't drive into it). This is important to me because: my wife has a long track record of vehicular damage, I like my EX-250 just the way it is, and I just bought the wife a new car (so caution is good for all involved).

When I move the bike backwards into the garage corner on it's stand I steer with the left grip while keeping my right foot over the handle so it can't pop up if the stand's wheels were to catch on something. Moving the bike forward while it's on the stand is even easier because the stand can't "overcenter" and pop out. The handle just slides along the garage floor.

You really can't do either of these manuevers with a rear-handle stand because it sticks way out behind the bike and when moving the bike forward there'd be no way to hold the rear facing handle secure to the floor.

We are using the Pitbull steering stem front stand. Ryan bought it 2nd hand from his Buell mechanic. I believe it's the #2 pin, it works for both the Buell and the 250. When we put the 250 on the stand it doesn't touch the underside of the front fairing, on the Buell it touches, I think. We have some random brand rear stand, but it looks similar to the standard rear. Basically everything we have we bought solely because it works for his bike and mine. We always use the two of us to put the bikes in stands, so the type didn't really matter.

Hmm, so I should grab the #2 pin instead. I'm glad I asked before ordering!!

I think I will probably go for the forward handle rear stand. I have issues with the bike moving forwards while I'm trying to get it up on the stand. At least with the forward handle, I will be able to hold the brake while I lift.

I would go for the #1 pin that Pit Bull says fits the bike. It's a tight fit with the #2 and the only reason why we have it is because we bought the stand for the Buell and it was by luck that the #2 fit. We were prepared to buy another pin but lucky us it worked out.

I have the standard handle and it's fine for a bike at stock height, but if you lower it and have any fender left it gets a little more difficult to lift without the fender getting in the way

I have a set of the standard handled rear and a newfront stand for my R6. I've used the rear stand on the 250 and the fender REALLY gets in the way. I suppose its not a problem if you already have a fender eliminator, but my bike's completely stock and it's not as easy to put on the pitbulls as my R6. That said, whenever I have some extra $$ i'll be nabbing a forward handle rear stand for my 250r.

I have T-Rex stands(V-Handle) that I use for the 250 and the fender isnt an issue.

As for the front stand, I've never had a real use of the front forklift stand. You might as well go for the newfront stand cause you'll be able to do everything you could with the forklift stand as well as work on the forks.
