What would you do? Would you say something?
I paid a local motorcycle shop to install a Roaring Toyz Lowering Kit on my Ninja. Here are some pics of the results. It's the perfect height now and I feel a lot more comfortable riding the bike now. But there's one thing that bothers me... See third picture.
   They put the lowering blocks on backwards (upside down)  Would you take it back and have them fix it? I have to take the motorcycle back next Saturday anyways, cause they were supposed to install some frame-sliders also and forgot to.  Should I tell them I'm unhappy with the install as well and ask them to reinstall the blocks? My boyfriend says I'm over exaggerating about it. But to me, that's just poor workmanship not noticing that they are on upside down. I don't know what to do... would you say something.

I'd think about saying something when you take it back in if the bike's going in anyway, but more likely I'd just unbolt 'em and reorient them correctly. It does show a lack of care for them to let the bike leave the shop like that.

The fact that they "forgot" to install the frame sliders and installed the lowering blocks on the wrong side would make me think that they do not pay attention to detail. I would wonder if they torqued the bolts or just "cranked" them down by feel.
I would definetly say something and have them make things right. |

That's how I felt. I think I am going to mention it to them. It's not that much work to reverse them, right? I would do it myself, but them I'm thinking, well I paid them to do, why should I have to unbolt it and fix it myself.

That's the main reason why I had a shop do it, because I don't have a torque wrench and don't specifically know how tight certain things are supposed to be. So I thought, let the pros do it. But I am a little skeptical now. They are a reputable shop and have been mentioned on this and other forums as well and have gotten positive reviews, so I was a little shocked when I got my bike back and it was missing the sliders and then I notice the upside down blocks.
I immediately called the owner and told him the sliders were missing and he was like, yes they are, I have the part right here on my desk, I forgot to give it to the installer. I thought, ok, things happen, so I told him I'd take it back next week. but then after hanging up with him, I noticed the blocks and then I was like what the heck, ya know.

Yep I'd make them fix it. Its just like when I took my bike in for service and one of the mechanics stripped my side cover screws really bad (I barely got the things off). I made them order new ones. Dealers seem to be really careless on maintenance. Could have saved me some money not buying a retarded maintenance plan since I feel they don't do the highest quality job. One time they lubed my chain with some really gross oil and they was oil on the sides of my tire
 .

It's super easy to flip those around. About 6 minutes total with a 6mm allen wrench, three minutes per side. I'd just show it to them and ask if it wouldn't be too much trouble to turn them the other way.

If anything, hearing good things about a shop would give me higher expectations regarding their quality and I would definitely let the owner or shop manager know, in a respectful manner, if I was disappointed in their work. It's like going to a reputable restaurant and ordering their signature steak and when you get it, it is under or over cooked. Would you just let it be or say something? Just out of curiosity, can you let us know the name of the shop so other members here can learn from your experience?

You paid to have it done correctly. Have it put on correctly. Welcome to dealing with a dealership. I gave up on dealerships and have all my work done by an individual. He has worked for several dealers and had his own shop several times thru the years. It takes a long time to find someone to trust with your ride. I have one though

No, not Bert's. It was Asylum Motorcycles. I didn't do it myself, because I don't really have the tools and stuff to get it done correctly. No torque wrench, stuff like that. Plus I don't have the stands to hold it in place. So I just figured I would take it to get installed. Plus they gave me a pretty good price on the entire kit, versus buying it elsewhere. Saved like $20 there alone. So it was the best bet for me versus doing it myself.

That would drive me nuts, having the words upside down. Call them asap and get a time to have them fix it if you're not confident doing it yourself.

I have the same kit and I really wish all the parts didn't say "Roaring Toyz" all over them. Since they do, though, I'd want them all right-side up. LOL
