RK 520XSO Chain Clip vs Rivet Master Link

So I just ordered some parts from Murph's and saw they have a RK 520XSO Chain with the correct amount of links (106) and a clip style master link. I know clip style master links aren't as popular but many seem to use them without any problems. My main reason for going with the clip is it's easier to install and I don't have a chain breaker so I will just be cutting the old chain off. I would definitly add some safety wire to the clip for peace of mind. Does it really matter with the proper precautions?

I installed that chain with the clip link. No issues at all. I used a small tywrap tho. I had the same problem as you. No chain breaker. I've been meaning to buy one to install a rivet type master but since I haven't had any problems, I've been holding off. I know thats not a smart way to rationalize it, but that's what's happening lol

After watching this I think the chain press is a good idea. I am sure I could Macgyver it like this dude but seems like a bit more work. Also which way should the clip be pointing?

Closed end of the clip faces the direction of rotation. Open end faces the direction the chain is coming from.
