Macs are like Honda Civics:
-easy to operate
-safe
-cookie cutter

PC's are like Mustangs:
-a bit more dangerous, but not if you're a skilled driver
-more room for additional hardware
-potentially faster

I have a pc at work and a Mac at home. I also have my Linux machines.

I so love my iMac running Snow Leopard.

I love my Linux machines and I usually switch OS on them every few months. I think I even have an old Compaq that I pulled the harddrive on running puppy somewhere.

I've tried telling people that's why Macs are so "virus free". It's not from being better at security, it's from no one bothering to make viruses for them. You can't get good at security if no one is even challenging your code.

Anyone who buys a Mac for the reason that they won't get a virus is dumb and obviously does not know how the internet works fundamentally.

I've owned serveral PC's and I have never got a virus or anything of that nature.

Not that I have anything against Apple or Macs, but I think people are silly for paying an excessive amount of money on Apple computers for which they can get the same specs on a PC at a significantly cheaper price.

Avast and Microsoft Security Essentials are all I run on my PC's and they are free and I have never had a trojan or virus issue. That being said I still like my Macs and Linux over Windows.

Yep MSE is all I use and never have any trouble, even downloading from some pretty shady sources sometimes. People really just need to use common sense on the Internet.
