akras are super nice - too bad its not a full system and not priced closer the the AreaP. the AP is pretty much the standard to which all other 250 exhaust will be judged. i want an akra for my 6R but - um $2500 is half of a 250R, and I would rather have another bike lol.

I was reading some general info on their website... Is there any truth to them being the same dB as stock? If so, I think I've found the only aftermarket exhaust I actually want.

It's really too much to pay if all you want is the style. Damn, I wish Kawi would make it more stylish like this or like the GSXR exhaust that people keep pretending to install (minus the actual exhaust parts ). This fits the style of the bike better than their own stock exhaust... they really should do something more than just painting it black.

I can believe that it is the same dB as stock, I find that even though you get great power gains from Akra exhausts (usually) they are rather quiet for most of the bikes I see with them.
It is such a sexy looking exhaust though...

From the FAQ on their own website:

Quote:
Typical measured noise levels for individual product groups depend most of all on engine type and vary from:

92dB to 98dB (street legal Slip-on, Bolt-on)
98dB to 102dB (Racing, Evolution)
94 dB (offroad)

The Street Legal series maintains the same noise levels as the stock exhaust systems. However, the color and the tone of the sound are changed, giving it a much sportier growl. The increase in performance is also less marked than with our other types of exhaust systems.
So, IOW, is there a street-legal version and is the stock can 92-98dB? Obviously, the FAQ is generalizing across bikes and product offerings.

All the info is on their site. there is no street legal one for the 250.

http://www.akrapovic.com/typo3conf/e...r_so_08_09.pdf

stock is 87dB and the slip-on is 98dB

the data sheet shows it's NOT a "street legal" slip-on, however I couldn't see anywhere if they removable noise damper was used or not for the 98dB rating....maybe i'm just missing it???

I don't think that I've ever seen a "street legal" aftermarket motorcycle exhaust.

that price for the akra full system ($1300) is a very fair price. I think the EVO for my bike was over $2k.

CF!

Yeah Carbon Fiber is the way to go, whether its Akra, TB or AP, But Yeah none of the aftermarket exhaust are "street legal" because of emission control (CA) and noise... but officers have more to worry about than the music from our bikes lol. Again, we are not riding on the street, We are riding in a playground.

A $2000.00 exhaust system on my bike better make it accelerate like a rocket up to 170 MPH, handle much better, and get 150 MPG.

If not. you can keep it.
