05 CBR600rr to 08 Ninja 250 from SAN DIEGO
Hey Guys! I just picked up an 08 kawi green ninja 250 2 weeks ago and wanted to introduce myself. I had a cbr600rr but sold it due to not working in my last year of college. Now that I have graduated and got a new job, I picked up my ninja 2 weeks ago!
My first impression was that the ninja 250 was a LOT slower than I expected (coming from a 600). However, it is FREAKING FUN to just go WOT everywhere and maneuver around so easily. My ninja came with a two brothers exhaust so that makes it sound much meaner than stock. In the last 2 weeks I -fixed up some cracks in the fairings from previous owner -got a new turn signal bulb -shimmed the needles with two washers -removed the air snorkels -bought shorty levers from eBay (clutch did not fit right so I'll have to get a refund/another one) -bought a new helmet, AGV K3 Rossi's Wake Up, and gloves, Alpinestars SMX-2 air carbons (already have a leather jacket) This weekend I plan to -change the oil -clean her up/buff out some more scratches -get a new rear tire I plan on getting another 600 sometime next year because my commute to work is 25 miles one way and I feel sketchy on the highway with the ninja. However, once I get another 600, I'll probably keep the ninja for a dedicated track bike or just to cruise around the city with. I just gotta say that this forum is very friendly and super informative and look forward to having fun with this bike! |

Welcome!! One thing the ninja has an advantage of is it's nimbleness. I once had to split lanes for an hour straight on the freeway and I was soo glad I was on the 250..not to mention the fuel mileage!

Thanks for the warm replies! I'm sad that I'm not able to ride this week as it has just started raining here in SD. I shouldn't complain though because I can count on my finger how many days it has rained here this year

Welocme Garix! If you change the sprockets to raise your gearing ratio, you will enjoy the Ninjette even more on the freeway and for the fuel economy.

Welcome fellow so. Cal. Rider!
I have a 15 tooth sprocket up front and I use my pregen 250 on a 45 mile round trip freeway ride once a week at least. Not to mention everywhere else I go (the ninja is my primary vehicle) and I just rode through Santiago canyon on it last Sunday  although my buddy on his r6 could walk away from me like I was parked, bigger bikes can't match the maneuvering of a ninjette
