07 super ninja nooob

hello everyone!
My name is tom and i just picked up this 07 kawi ninja250 for 300 bucks. it runs rides and lights and brakes work well, and obviously pulls up when i jam 2nd (LMAO didnt know it could do that)..

Dont get mad I am a honda guy. started out 6 yrs old on my grandfathers 60's honda minitrail 50.
What a machine that stood the sands of time, still running to this day. at 12 I moved up to his honda elite 80's and rode next to him on his GOLDwing aspencade ...dam i miss those days, my grandfather and I wrenching on his bikes airplane and boat, I learned alot, he never seemed to tell me how to do it he made me figure it out by asking questions and looking at schematics.
He built tanks subs and surfboards when he was younger.
when i hit 16 i had a honda 150 enduro and a cr 125 both 80s.
At 18 my buddy and i raced one time him on my 125 and me on my cr500 i just picked up for 600$ (not much of a race but hey the 125 did alright!) as for him not so well he got swollowed by a washout that was 8ft deep at around 40-50mph luckily he was ok after a few front flipps and skidding on his rear but my bike totalled after flipping up in the air bout 3 times but still rode home!!!crooked forks and all!!!
After that incident i will always wear a helmet no matter where im going!!!
My buddy had an 81 gl1100 goldwing and because he wrecked my bike he would always let me ride his no matter if i needed it to get some tail, plus i was the one he came to for work to be done.
Theres my history now back to this crotch rocket of mine

IM 24 call me ninja noob as i have no experience on this style bike

now she does have alot of rust and alot of problems. let me note that it only has 4k miles and sat beachside outside.

cons first

minor rust spots everywhere
tank is rusty exterior minor interior rust
fuel petcock leaks
starter noise***
exhaust fell apart litterally
every connection corroded, harness butchered to run without safety switches
front forks leak scratch and pitted
front tire is done shot out
all safety switches are shot
anything alumnium thats painted is peeling off

pros last ( as i like to end on a positive note)

4k miles
clutch dont slip under full throttle
runs idles
has no leaks
doesnt heat up
no engine noise
rear tire is fairly new
fairings in great shape

now ive purchased multiple parts for the bike off ebay, and spent almost 150$ THEN found a parts bike on craigslist for 50$ with title, good forks, good tires front and back, harness and all cables, IC, recti. in great shape woot woot!!!.
wish i would have done that in the reverse order but hey thats how it goes...

Ive stripped my bike down primed rust spots and redid all connections, to my dismay when reasseembled bike has no power.. I then made sure my wiring is correct and cleaned the grounds and charged the battery and got lights

now the problem is no spark! so i tested both coils stator and pulse coil and at 70-80deg.f ambient , they test out in spec... test plug boots got 12.4 with kill switch on, 0 when off ..

i still have yet to pull the plugs because the bike ran ... i think it comes down to a shotty wiring harness with correoded\burnt wires so im pulling it all out and buying a new one also another suspect is the IC Module they are pricey...

ok so heres some questions im sure yall have dealt with before

coil wire leads are reds on bottom? thats what the wire lengths show but the diagram sorta shows one is reversed????
whats a way to check the IC mod as i havent found a procedure?? from what i read it takes some high tech equipment...
how do i set the new forks correctly? like the heigth and how to make the tire straight between the forks???

THANKS GOES TO THE OWNERS OF THIS SITE AS I WILL BE A LIFETIME MEMBER NOW! WHATEVER TIPS AND TRICKS OF THE TRADE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Also anyone needing any spare parts from pregen ninja i will post in for sale or free section after im done working on bike !!
anyone with spare parts pm me!!! peace out

Riding safe to ride another day..

Welcome Thomas!

$300 ninja score!!!! $50 parts bike!!!! You lucky dawg you. I think there is a wiring diagram floating around here somewhere and we have quite a few wrench turners that should be able to point you in the right direction. I know enough to be dangerous at times, other times... I am spot on or way off.

ps. We will not hold it against you that your a h0nduh guy.

Welcome to Ninjette.org, Tom !!!

Yes, red to bottoms.

The safety switches may be suppressing the sparks.

Tubes go about 12 mm above the triple, if I remember correctly.

Release the four clams of the triple's, re-align and re-torque those clamps.

welcome! you sound like a resourceful gear head!

CL is the best isnt it!

Dont rush yourself ... chucking the harness or cdi/ecm.

Double triple and keep checking connections switches and all that nonsense.

no point in replacing anything until you pin point the problem as it was running before.

Congrats on the deal it seems like you bought a whole lot of fun for 500$ all said and done and you will probably make your money back if you can sell all your extra parts !

Well if the switches are good I guess visually inspect the harness and continuity test where you can. It's weird that something would just fail without cause?

Good luck w the project
