Locking Oil Cap
I have always wanted a locking oil cap. I think it is far too easy for some evil soul to open it up and pour something in.
So far the only ones I have seen are made by Sato Racing. http://www.satoracing.com/oilfillercap.htm $38 for the cap and $20 for the key. Ouch ! Has anyone seen a more cost friendly alternative ? |

Nobody is going to pour stuffs in your engine...I'd be more worry about they're taking the whole bike.

Solution in search of a problem. Heck, it'll probably make your bike go faster, too, but only because your wallet is lighter.

I can't see how this locks? A simple hex key could open this cap?

I always have my tool kit in my car and my bike also has one in its tool kit. I think if someone has a plan to vandalize your bike, you are his main target, and will try and sabotage you, personally.

Well I'm certainly not on anyone's hit list.
It seems though we have some punks vandalizing bikes in a popular area of town. I has happened twice. I was just trying to take precautions. |

I carry a set of Allens as well in my tool kit. I would doubt that some kid looking to get his jollies would carry Allens---unless he is also a motorcyclist hell bent on giving you grief.

It doesn't lock, but at least it requires tools:

If they got sand off the ground it means that they weren't carrying much. Also, there's a big difference between carrying a conspicuous toolbox vs. a small bag of rice and it would only hold them back when they attempt to run (if caught in the act) and make it easier to ID them. "OK. Which one of you guys is responsible for this? It couldn't be you, there, with the toolbox... could it?" |
