Gold chain and sprocket??

im lookin to put on a gold chain and gold rear sprocket on the ninja. has anyone done this? i searched the forum and havent been able to really find what i was lookin for. what all do i need besides the chain and sprocket? i probably would not do it myself but the dealers here charge an arm and a leg for anything. what size chain and rear sprocket would i need? is it like universal? i have a -1 front sprocket now, and im finding rear sprockets with 40-48 or so teeth. what would work best? and if anyone has done this do you have any pics? thanks.

Dont know too much about this but with the chain lube and the dirt that will accumulate on the chain and sprocket, isnt having gold kinda pointless? If anything it would look less cool because it will show dirt much easier. Your bike and your money though...as a show bike i think it'd look good

true...i guess i didnt think about that. i just always thought it looked good on all the bikes ive seen. i keep my bike clean and try to wipe everything down after a ride, but maybe it would look dirty anyways...who knows

Don't have a pic handy, but my Stealth rear sprocket has some gold on it. It does get kinda dirty. I don't bother wiping it down 'cept for when I clean the chain.

Gold or Green, or whatever should not pose a problem. My experience has been that most people over-lube. The notion that if a little is good, a lot is better, permiates the business. I see it in my bicycle shop all the time. O Ring chains do not have to be saturated with lubricant. You are lubricating the rollers and a little goes a long way. The side plates, whether they are gold, green , or skyline pink, have nothing to do with the chain`s lubrication. They can be clean and dry. All you need to lubricate is the rollers.

I've been planning on getting a blue chain for my bike for a while now. The way I see it, a chain like that gives me an excuse to take good care of it. I have to clean it often to have the extra looks points.

I've got a gold DID chain on my bike. I can post pics later, don't have access to them right now. You should be cleaning your chain regularly...if can't see what color it is, that's pretty bad! My rear sprocket is from PMP. They sell sprockets in a variety of colors however I opted for silver since that was cheapest.

I've got a 106 link 520 gold RK chain with a 42 tooth gold driven rear sprocket. No pics right now, but if you're lookin at changing gearing i'd probably bump down to a 41 or 40 tooth rear sprocket, but driven makes all different sizes so its up to you. I'll upload pictures in a bit

Is Driven's front sprocket J-series specific? AFAIK, only JT makes ones specifically for 2008+ bikes (no shims/spacers required for proper alignment).

nope, they make a front sprocket for the 08+ ninja, 14t or 15t

Yeah, I've seen it in dealer inventories for the 08+, but there was no part number to compare to the previous generation toverify that it isn't just another fitment database update. If it really is made for the '08, awesome.

Kinda expensive though.

15T Sprocket JT, Part #80-985-15, $15.99 at Dennis Kirk. I have one on my 08 and it required no shimming.

It doesn't require it to work, but the older one does require it for perfect alignment. I'm specifically going for miles and chain life, so I don't want any additional wear from a slightly misaligned front sprocket. It was a little tough but I got the right part for $18 (JTF 1639.15).

Ooops didn't see sprocket. First thought of gold chain makes me think of some characters at the beaches here.
