Need your opinion on this tire.

This is my original Dunlops. My odometer reads 11,229 as of today.
This is the deciding factor if I'll go through with my trip or not.
Will it make another 4,600 miles?

and one more of the new EBC pads from today.

I've only rode around the neighborhood, but they feel fantastic!

I'd get a new tire. It's almost touching the wear bar... certainly will be past it at 4600 miles.

Yep, the trip will have to hold.
I'll do a complete 12k service and order a new front tire.

The tires look like there starting to crack from age. Best th replace them for a safe and fun trip.

You need new tires REALLY bad, but the problem is it looks like that is a Kenda tire sitting next to your bike. It will offer almost worse performance then what your taking off. Seriously, ditch those tires and get Bridgestone BT45's if you can. It is a great commuter tire. If you want sportier tires, go for the pirelli sport demons or bridgestone BT-090's.

A friend of mine had those Kenda "Sport" tires on his CBR250RR. They were garbage. They caused him to crash pretty bad one time. They simply gave out. Not to mention the profile on them is messed up. It causes you to lose potential lean angle.

If you bought them already, take it really easy on them and at the next financially viable moment, buy something else.

Based on other people's experiences and miles I have so far, I have no issues with them.
The ones I have is the K671's which is their touring tire.
I know this grips better than the stock Dunlop K630's because with the same pressure on the rear brake, I don't lock them up anymore.
I only have 400 miles on them, but I'll do an update later on.
I'd love a set of sport tires, but being that my bike is a daily and I plan on doing cross country trips, I can't justify it.
Also, I do not ride super aggresively like some of my buddies do nor do I have the skills to.
I've tested my new tire at speed, turned somewhat aggresively, braked at a limit and I like them so far.

You're right though. If I had the money, I'd go with better touring tire. Something like Metzeler ME 880 or Avon Roadrider.
