Hey... Look At Me!! Look At Me!!!

If you subscribe to the philosophy that bright colored clothing/gear enhances your chance of being seen by cagers, then this post is for you.

I finally received my new helmet in Hi Vis Yellow. As far as I know, Scorpion is the only company that makes a helmet in this color. This color only comes in their EXO-700 series, but I can imagine if sales take off, they will be offering this color in their other model lines as well.

Doubt it, you say??? I have been trying for over a month to get one and every helmet place has been out of them. I finally tracked one down the other day.

Be advised if you are interested in getting one, try one on first to confirm sizing. This is my second one as I usually take a size medium or large. My Shoei RF-1000 is a size large and fits me perfectly. When I ordered the Scorpion in large, it was waay too tight and I couldn't even hear myself think when I had it on. This one that finally came in is an XL and fits very well. It may have to do with my head shape, as others (OldGuy) who have this helmet ordered their usual size and are happy with the fit.

Photos were taken with the drapes half open to show the difference in color between the helmet shaded and in the sunlight.

Review on the helmet is here...

Kelly, please, I can see that thing from here, cover it up, you're killing my eyes.
Idea!! Set it back or wear it and have someone take pictures of it from a distance, at dusk and at night, with and w/out headlights. It looks like it would almost glow in the dark. Is it reflective or just bright yellow?

nb

Just let me know what night you take the pics, I wanna go to North Shore and see if I can see the glow.

ummm... I had a one piece aerostich suit in hi vis yellow, remember? unfortunately, they recalled the suit and I ended up with a gray/black suit as a replacement. To keep the visibility, I ordered this helmet.

Nice and comfy, BTW. Looks to be a winner of a helmet!

Saw it in the webbikeworld review awhile ago, have wanted one ever since.
I think it's a real awesome looking helmet, burn your retina hi-viz colours have never looked so cool before.

Just sucks that they don't sell Scorpion helmets up here so I'd have no chance of ever trying one on before purchasing.

Even with an excellent exchange policy, the shipping costs really get ya up here.
Especially so if they use evil UPS, which you will then end up paying insane broker fees.

I don't know about broker fees, but I do know they offer shipping through USPS in addition to FEDEX.

ugh, scorpion helmets don't fit my head properly. Arai is the only brand that fit well for me and allowed me to put on my eyeglasses.

How was the sizing for you? Did you get your usual helmet size w/ the exo-700?

it is a nice helmet for the price.... in some respects, nicer than my rf-1000.

That would look appropriate with a green or black bike, but red or blue? Yuck. I'd rather be less visible.

@KKim: how does that color match up with your bike?

Bright colors, especially white, are essential to drivers and other riders seeing you. I think it certainly does help visibility and safety.

Good call.

There is an element of style too. I believe KKim has a green bike, so I'm sure it looks like a perfect fit. But with my red bike? Puke. All of my gear has the hidden refective tape. All of the Joe Rocket logos shine in headlights.

I should also add that the shape and style of the helmet is killer! Looks like an alien skull.

Helmet City is awesome. Not many places offer free 2-day shipping that actually takes only 2 days. Their customer service is the best I've found. I ordered a Bell Sprint helmet in a color they were out of and they gave me a $50 upgrade to a better quality Bell Apex in the color I wanted - at NO CHARGE. Doesn't get much better than that.

Well since Kelly must be off riding in the sun shine while the rest of us are freezing various parts of our anatomy off - here is a picture of the Scorpion EX700 in HiVis Yellow and the Ninja Green. The TourMaster Transition 2 jacket gives you even more yellow.
