UNABLE to make it a double by 0.176s, Ryuichi Kiyonari finished second in the second race at Knockhill after making a mistake allowing Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne to finish on the top step of the podium.

Byrne took the lead from the start whilst Brookes starting to fall back to fifth like in race one allowing Chris Walker and Byrne’s team-mate Stuart Easton to move ahead.

Kiyonari piled on the pressure as he battled with Byrne for the lead eventually gaining some advantage until the Japanese rider made a mistake on the exit of the Hairpin, but fortunately saved himself from what could’ve potentially been a massive high-side. Byrne took advantage and pulled out a lead of 0.8 seconds.

The chase to close up the 0.8s gap carried on until the last lap where Byrne and Kiyonari appeared to cross the line almost together, but Byrne had the slight advantage.

Trouble for Milwaukee Yamaha’s Brookes as he was forced to settle for fourth again whilst GBmoto’s Chris Walker finished third with a broken finger.

Walker’s team-mate James Ellison finished eighth ahead of Richard Cooper and Michael Rutter after a DNF in race one.
