[RideApart] - Super Hooligan to Race in Dixie

Super Hooligan to Race in Dixie

Round three of the Roland Sands Design Super Hooligan National Championship is set for Dixie National Speedway on March 25. The race will be held in conjunction with the American Flat Track (AFT) Grand National Championship Short Track in Woodstock, GA. A limited number of spaces are still available, so get your entries in ASAP if you want to be part of the Super Hooligan show. The event will be included in the NBC Sports Network televised racing action with AFT. Dixie Speedway is a banked, 3/8-mile track on Georgia red clay that you won’t want to miss.

Riders on their way home from Daytona will have a great opportunity to see grown men, and some overgrown men, race (more or less) large motorcycles never intended to touch rubber on a dirt surface. The chances for extreme mayhem, mishap and comedy are high indeed. And of course the pros will be on hand as well, given the $1,000 Super Hooligan purse put up by Indian Motorcycles, Dunlop’s $1,000 Dash for Cash and other contingencies and prizes from RSD, Bell Helmets, K+N and Motul USA. Championship Points will go towards the SHNC points fund, where the champion of the series will be crowned at the final round and will take home a Factory Indian FTR750 professional GNC flat track race bike and a $2,500 bonus from Bell Helmets.

The spirit of hooligan racing comes from a simpler time, when you raced – and could ride home on – any bike you owned. With its roots in Southern California motorcycle culture, today’s flat track hooligan racing category is rapidly gaining in popularity with riders of all ages and experience levels across the nation by offering the fun of motorcycle competition in a less structured environment. Combining the craft of custom motorcycles and racing the Super Hooligan rules are loose and limit the bikes to 750cc and up Twins in stock frames with dirt track tires (no knobbies) and no front brakes.
