New member from Utah

Hello,
My name is Aquina and I am Utah. I have acquired a new to me 2006 250.
Alittle background on myself. I have been riding bikes since I was 4 and got into street riding at 17 ( I am 39 now). I started on an 83 XJ650 which I put 40,000 miles on before moving onto an 01 Yamaha FZ1. I rode the FZ1 for a decade putting 80,000 miles or so on it before selling it and purchasing a (forget what year) Kawasaki zx6 which I owned for 4 years and added 35,000 miles onto. I have currently UPGRADED to an 06 Kawasaki 250 that was wrecked and I got for a song about 2 weeks ago.
I have always done my own maintenance and repairs on everything I have owned. I also have an 83 C10 squarebody.
I am looking forward to enjoying the great info that this site has to offer.

Thanks. The front fairing were trashed so I am going to more of a street fighter/naked bike. I am enjoying reading through this site and getting ideas. I really like the FZ1oa forum and this one seems to be on par.

It really has been alot of fun. I like being able to full throttle it for more than a few seconds and actually push the limits of this bike. I feel like the more power I had the less skill I used. My FZ1 was way more powerful than I could ever use and even though the FZ1 wasn't super heavy I forgot how much I like having a small light bike. It is almost like I have gone full circle. it honestly is the most fun I have had on a bike in awhile.

You can set up automated searches on Craigslist that'll email you when ads that meet your criteria is posted.

I got TWO pre-gen 250s as bare frames and piles of parts in boxes for... $250 from storage-unit sale.

I've found that, too. More power, you don't have to be as careful about your gear selection. Or corners.

Thanks all. Update on my bike. Got the valves adjusted, oil changed, cleaned adjusted spark plugs, and cleaned air filter.
I had to adjust 3 valves and it seems idle smoother. I think I need to clean adjust the cam chain tensioner as it still seems noisey at idle.

Welcome! It's nice getting to meet riders closer to Southern Idaho!

The street fighter build seems to be a common theme here. I got my first bike, an 05 250, late last year with the understanding that work was needed. I've spent my time doing her up naked-style and they really do have a nice look to them with the fairings off, once you declutter them visually. Check my pics for my naked build in progress. I'm leaning in the cafe racer direction when she's done but this is where I'm at right now.

Note: I have not yet decluttered mine This winter. Definitely this winter.
