Previous owner said he installed an exhaust from an '08... questions.

After a couple of months I decided I needed to more intimately know my bike, so I undressed her... and what caught my attention the most is how the exhaust was "fixed" I'm a complete newbie and to me this ninjette runs great even with my 300lbs, do you guys think I'd be better of replacing the whole exhaust system with at least a used original one?

Link to photo album where I exhibit my naked ninjette.

Thanks!

Just... Wow. It's amazing what some people do to their vehicles.

He plugged the header on the #1 side, forcing the exhaust from that cylinder through the cross-over pipe and out the right side of the bike. Yes, that's more restrictive. Yes, it looks like crap. Yes, you should look for a used (good condition) OE header and exhaust cans to improve performance.

Wow.

On the bright side, it looks like you have a Corbin seat. Congrats on the comfy saddle!!

Thanks, comfy saddle indeed, I already placed a bid for some headers on eBay, and plan on fixing this exhaust asap...

yep u got a corbin

Also the newgen exhaust is already more restrictive than the pregen system. Doing that weld made it a ton worse. So yeah your getting really bad performance with that exhaust.

It would be very noticable in the higher rpms. Lower rpms, start and go traffic is what would suffer plus gas mileage. Yea soon as u can switch it over to stock or aftermarket.

How is the header attached? I thought the newgen header was different where it couldnt go on the pregen without major modification?

Muzzy's rock, not flaming here.

Byron, it looks like PO cut+plugged the left side header right under the cross-over pipe of the pregen header. Then he fabbed up a mid-pipe, attached it to the right side, and attached the newgen can to it that way.

I bet it would feel plugged up to all of us, but since Pedro is new to the bike and has no point of reference for what it should feel like, it feels alright. I personally would never do that to a bike, lol.

What he said :-)

I already got some stock headers for cheap and a local shop has the cans so hopefully soon I'll feel the difference...

Thanks!

Did you finish getting the header situation fixed? Notice the difference?

I haven't yet, a starter circuit problem has been a priority over the exhaust.

As soon as I get it bacl to stock headers/mufflers I'll report back.

Thanks for asking!

Done, and yes, I noticed the difference, it revs up faster now, I haven't had the chance to push it to top speed, (it was 85mph with a load of 320lbs), first time in my life I wished I had a longer commute....
