To buy or not to buy....Ninja 300

I'm stuck in a rut. I'm tempted to get the Ninja 300 but it's $500 more than I am willing to pay. My original plan was to use the 250 for at least a year and then purchase a new FZ6r. I bought the 250 before the general public was informed about the 300, thinking there wouldn't be a revision for 2013. Now that the 300 is out, I want it. I, also, want to sell the 250 before it loses too much value. I'm just not sure the 300 is worth it for me. I'll probably keep it for more than a year, if I like, especially if it get's rediculously great mileage.

I craigslisted my bike. Let's see how much I get for it.

if its your first yr of riding i wouldn't be so quick to sell it.
the california models hold value well as long as its not been crashed.

were you going to trade in the 250 for the fzr?

If it's your first year of riding, don't sell for a brand new bike.

Most drops happen in that first year. You'll hate yourself for dropping and damaging a brand new beautiful bike

Probably sell, but that would depend on market value for resale vs trade in.

I worry about this too, but that's what insurance is for, right?

since you weren't trying to keep it. the 300 would be a good all around bike for you.

i would wait for reviews on the ABS model though.
might be worth the extra cash

Crapola.....I just remembered why I wanted the FZ6r in the first place....lower maintenance (24K miles for valve job). I forgot to consider the maintenance schedule for the Ninja 300. If it's pretty much the same as the 250, it's probably not worth it for to spend more money on a bike of the same caliber. If it's has a better maintenance schedule, I may go after it.

Short answer: No.

Long Answer: No. Not worth it.

MIGHT be but you have to pay $200 more for the Special Edition AND $500 more for the ABS.

I was all about it until I found out it was only available in the special edition Green/Ebony- not a fan of that look at all.

Having owned both I would not really say they are the same caliber...the 300 has almost 50% more power at some RPMs and rides like a different bike. The fuel injection and excellent low/mid range power make it a lot more fun IMO.

I would not buy another 250R and I am used to riding a 600RR every day but here I am with a 300 as my main bike now. 600RR has not moved since I bought it.

I figured they would add it to any trim version, after the initial launch is complete.
