Largest front tire on a newgen?

Can anyone confirm if a 120/70/17 BT016 will fit without any modifications?

Ive got a 110 on mine and it isnt worn all the way to the edge (believe me when I say I tried) Why would you want bigger?? The only thing that will do is pinch the tire on the rim and give you less contact patch in the sticky outside compound of the tire.

Don't order from the dealer. Go to motorcycle-superstore.com

http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...ront-Tire.aspx

$96 for a 110/70 BT-016. Get the right size and cheaper.

the 120's in front aren't just wider, they are taller as well, and will slow the steering feel (by effectively raising the front fork a bit). To maintain the same geometry, you can lower the fork through the triple tree by using lowering blocks, but at that point it's probably more cost effective to just get the right size tire in the first place.

why?

110 front
130 rear, is all ill ever put on mine.

thinking back to pontiac's "wider is better" grand prix commercials of years ago...

wider tires on the 250R.

Why not just put a 160 front, then a 240 rear?

will that make the 250 handle better than stock tires?

I wanted BT-016's but I do not want to go to 150 on the back. So, instead, I will try BT-003's next time I change my tires since they are offered in 140 for the rear.

over here ive seen several guys put their stock 130 back tires on the front, and then they buy a 160 and put it on the back.

however the handling is impaired... and its a VERY tight fit! they do it just for looks, and to save money, since they want something bigger than stock when they buy the bike, but they dont want to buy both new tires, lol

once my stock front tire needs a change i think im gonna go with some battlax 110s or 120s up front, already changed the back tire since that wore down a lot faster, and am running BT 150/60/17 92s if im not mistaken.

I just had a new rear tire mounted yesterday. I went with the stock size Bridestone BT-045 again. It's a very good tire for street use, and I'd be reluctant to switch to any other size or type of tire...

Hehe must be some crazy modded bikes over there.
Aren't front and rear tires built differently? The rear one for acceleration and the front for mainly braking?

here are two highly modded bikes that were parked at the dealership a couple weeks back:

fully modded back swing-arms to accommodate the 180+ back wheels, and upside down double disk brakes front wheels with like 130 tires.

i wonder how they handle with such an extreme makeover... specially the one with the full slick tires, lol

and the red bike in the last image with the "small" tires is my bike, yay!
