Yesterday, and today, rode the Ninja for my first ride(s) of the season. Haven't ridden since November. Felt good. I was rusty, only have about 3 months of experience anyway, and there are lots of potholes (NY); but it felt good overall.

O'Reilly's ($15), I also saw some Blasters at AutoZone for the same price and they looked to be the same size. I have a pre-gen, so it only took me 15mins (10 of those was finding the socket (10mm)). All in all it ranks about a 1 on a scale of 1-10. If you get the type shaped like a seashell, be sure that the opening is pointed down so that it doesn't collect water. You can actually listen to the different horns on their site, wolo-mfg.com

I went for a few rides today, it was 87F! It was a great day to ride, even in my shift textile jacket; that thing can flow some air. I've put 270 miles on my bike since I bought it on Thursday . I'm really starting to get comfortable and realizing more and more of the ninjettes true potential.

The forecast says rain tomorrow and Wed here, its probably the same for you. That's the reason I went for a ride a couple hours ago. It's gonna kill me not to ride for 2 days.

It's gorgeous out now, just a tad bit cool at 58F but I'm thinking mid to high 60's today. (Edit: high of 71 here, just checked)

p.s. mods from the last 2 days:

-Blue LED headlight strips
-repainted heat shield / removed some paint on the exhaust can
-almost done with the mirror extenders I'm making; hopefully I'll finish those today if I can find my grinder. I've been looking for that grinder for 3 days now .

Sat on a couple ZX6r's today...

Yeah, I'm a bike whore, I swap out a lot... If I sell it, the 250 will leave a hole in my heart. :'(

but that won't be for at least a few more months!

I took apart my 250 and fixed smudges on the inside of my headlight . Then I put a bunch of gold accents on it using a spray can / polyurethane semi-gloss coating. I messed up on part of the exhaust and ended up just spraying it all and I like it better that way . I painted my windshield bolts, gas cap bolts, rear brake reservoir cover, oil cap, and exhaust bolts/top of exhaust. Yea, my tires muddy...I know .

sorry about the huge pics.

yesterday afternoon I went to my gf's and she surprised me with her new gmax helmet, which btw is a very nice looking, high quality, helmet but a bit loud. So we went out for a good 1-1.5 hours long ride riding 2 up and it went very well; the bike had more acceleration than I thought it would, especially with about 390lbs on it. The only problem I had was engine braking which seemed 100 times different riding 2 up than by myself because the front forks just wanted to dive every chance they got .

Cleaned and lubed the chain, measured rim runout, checked bearings, re-balanced front wheel, cleaned everything, applied new grease, checked and slightly adjusted wheel alignment. Also loosened and tightened triple clamps, and I think the bike handles differently now. Feels nimbler.

had to troubleshoot a front brake switch i found to be inop during a wipe-down and engine run several days ago. havent been able to ride due to work and weather. found one of the electrical connectors not properly seated. did some preventive maintenance on the connectors (contact cleaner) and it's working fine. took a short putt round the hood, lubed the chain and put her back to bed.

I'm familar with scars like that! Not sure if it's available where you are located, but there is a product called 2nd Skin that works great on healing the skin bad to it's original state. It's used for burns, but good for other uses.

bummer dude-- i know what you mean about being lazy with the gloves. luckily, my hands didn't make contact with the ground when I went down, but I made sure to buy myself a pair of lightweight gloves (Icon 29ers) so I wouldn't have an excuse not to be wearing something if i go down again.

hope nothin hurts too much, and i hope it doesn't cost too much to get the bike back together again

I almost dropped my bike tonight for the first time when I got home from work. I have to stop in my yard, get off and open the shed doors to drive in. There is about a 3-4inch drop in the ground right before my shed; I got off the bike and went to drop the kickstand and the bike started falling towards me. The bike got about 1-3 inches from the ground when I caught it from falling, I thought I saw my life flash before my eyes but luckily I reacted quickly enough. Then I went in and parked it inside and locked the handle bars because my step brother seems to want to go sit on the bike in the mornings before I wake up and move it around in the shed; I might get a cover alarm just to prevent him from getting too eager.

once my hands are a little better ill write in more detail about what happened, but at the moment its not easy to type on the keyboard with these broken palms.

suffice it to say the fault was the other idiot who was in my lane at a S curve. i didnt know what he was doing and slammed on the brakes to avoid a head on collision with the other bike. front wheel must have slipped out, its one of those moments where you dont know where you should go, left or right, since you dont know where the other person is going to swerve....

i hit the pavement, slid on, and thankfully there was no more incoming traffic at the time. my bike must have nose dived since the front end got smashed in. it slid and hit the bike that was in my lane.

got the company pickup to come get my bike, cleaned my wounds and then took the bike apart at home, so that if any faring parts were still usable, they wouldn't be bent in the wrong shape for too long, and hopefully go relatively back to their original position.

will need new handlebars, possibly brake reservoir, that was leaking..., new foot pegs, new front frame thing that holds the front faring+ light+ dash. my Koso dash might have survived, the whole fiberglass thing popped out in one piece, the tabs where it is fixed to the bike snapped, since the bikes plastics got all warped. new front and side farings, the back one i can probably save.

what hurts the most is the destruction of the AreaP exhaust that was the best but also most expensive part i had on the bike, and its basically ruined.

once im well enough to handle tools ill start to check if the bikes frame is warped. i have a bad feeling that it might be

if that is the case, it will be very difficult to get the bikes farings to sit properly on the bike again. which makes me think that i might have to mod the bike into a naked street fighter or something. which if nothing else... will keep me busy for a while.

well in the endi wrote as much as i needed to i guess, lol

im surprised now that i managed to take the bike apart with these broken hands, lol

was still in a little shock, and wanted to do what was possible to save what i could for the bike i guess.

at least now when i see the bike parked there i don't think how messed up it looks, but about how i will make it look

So sorry to hear/see this, Wayan. I don't know about the laws in Indonesia, but is there a chance that you will be compensated (insurance, court, etc)? Heal up quick!

nothing of the sorts, foreigners (me) if you get in an accident, even if its totally obviously the other persons fault (a local guy) its always the foreigner that has to pay for everything.

in this case, even though it was the guys fault for being in my lane and causing me to brake and fall. i have to take up all the damages, since im the one who "hit" him.

a fact of life here, and no matter how much you bicker, there is no way around it. since i know this, i didnt want to create drama with them, i paid 55$ to a bike that was parked on the side, and got a little damaged, and then i took the bike that caused me to crash to the honda mechanic where i know the people, asked them to fix the bike and put it on my tab. it will probably wont cost much, since it seems like they got away with just a bent steering wheel, he was on a moped, so its like a bycicle... no tripple clamp they just have to reallign it. some small damage on their faring, but i refused to pay to fix that. since its barely noticeable... unlike my bike....

insurance is usually (maybe not with the state of my bike, lol) more expensive than any damage that you will do to your bike, in the long run. so nope, i don't have insurance. so it will be my pet project for a while, to rebuild my baby back to its former glory, albeit, there might be some major cosmetic changes if the full fairing's don't fit anymore
