My first car was unique, a 1985 Austin Mini 998cc. I wish I had it still but that was oh 17 years ago.....

And yes I learned to drive on the other side of the road and car.

It's a different market. They adopted, and the result was basically a different company in US and Europe, with completely different products. Maybe they are trying to put it all together again.

Like the ford transit, been around forever but it's only getting popular here now. The fiesta is a really cool car. GF Picked up a new SES about a month back and it's been nice. She grew up in Europe actually so she loves small cars. It mops the floor with the competition (honda fit, mazda 2, yaris, etc) Highly recommended.

Car is completely back to stock now aside from the springs. Thinking about letting it go and picking up a new x-runner. Thoughts, anyone?

The door closes with a satisfying, yet tinny, clunk. Claustrophobia is the name of the game here, I can close the passenger window without having to undo my harness. The engine sits a scant foot or so behind my head, the blower visible when I pop open the rear. This Toyota sourced, 1.8 liter screamer kicks out over 250 bhp and 165 lb-ft, and in a car that weighs less than many toddlers, it will destroy 60mph from a dead stop in only 4.1 seconds. No sound insulation as I prod the starter, to be visibly shaken and aurally assaulted by the blast of sound from the blown engine. Gently snick into first and I bury the gas pedal to the aluminum floor, grab second, third, smile widening, fourth, brake for the turn, just a dab of opposite lock, feeling the heft of the engine trying to pendulum me into the hedge. The tires grip and claw and protest as we dive into another downhill turn, I wait impatiently for the grandpop to decide if his left turn signal means he'll turn left...he does not. Exige echoes my distaste for turn signal abuse, and we, with exponentially excessive noise, blast on by and bid him a disdainful "Sayonara!!!" as we head for the next crooked part of the road. I swore up and down that I would never get a yellow car, but the diminuitive size, the noise, the poise, and the power bade me to reconsider. So I did.

What is that sound? The incongruous beep? Car horn? No, it would be the alarm. I awaken, shattered by the fact that the 1.8 liter Toyota engine I really do own belongs in a 1998 Corolla LE. Which is a wee bit heavier than a Lotus Exige. And not as fast. And not as loud. And not as yellow. But it's paid for so I can throw money at the Ninjette and the Vulcan.

This list sent me down a little trip through memory lane...

Gray 1987 Pontiac Sunbird SE coupe
Red 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo
Black 1997 Saturn SC2
Black 2004 Mazda 6 sport-wagon (wife drives now)
Gray 2007 BMW 328i sedan

The pictures are all just representative except for the BMW - that's the dealer pictures of my actual car.

The winter vehicle/utility van is a 2007 VW Rabbit.

@CamaroZ: The sales manager at the Kawi dealership where I bought both my bikes just sold his Exige. I asked him why. ANY answer he gave me would have been unacceptable, so I just sighed and said, "NOOOOOO!!!!!"

@Leia: I have been steadily feeding my girlfriend ideas about the MX-5 PRHT. She's beginning to like the idea of a push button folding roof...he he he!!!

Hardtop might be nice but I'm in love with the simplicity of the soft top. It is sooooo quick and easy to operate. Nothing makes my happier than flicking it open on a nice day. When it's warm enough (I have vinyl not sail cloth) you just unclip, toss and it clicks into the locked down position on it's own. You can operate it while seated.

Very fun to drive too. And the trunk magically fits a golf bag.

Plus cloth is lighter than metal LOLZ! ANY Miata would be a great car (as long as it's a 6 speed. Girlfriend and I love manual transmissions).

Well, for our daily rides, we have nothing more than a Honda Prelude and Accord. However, my hubby inherited his dad's 1974 Stingray Corvette. He fixed it up and got it running after it sat for nearly 20 years. I took my first ride in it last weekend.

Lots of sweet cars. Here's my old man's 66 big block. I only have one crappy pic on my computer. Once in a while he allows me to 'excercise' it for him but it spends far too much time in the garage for my liking.

I love the Elise, too. I drove an Elise SC last year in August and it was a dream come true. I want one so badly, but though I'm sure I could afford an '05 Elise used, the cost of insurance and maintenance turns me off. I'd still love to own one someday, though.

Here's a list of the cars I've owned in order:

2007 Honda S2000
2008 Nissan 350Z Touring
2008 Honda S2000 CR
2009 Toyota Yaris
2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe

Note: Every car I've owned has been a manual transmission. I can't mess with automatics. They bore me.

Note x2: Before owning the first S2000, I drove my mom's 2004 Toyota Camry SE to school. It was an automatic. I don't consider it "my" car since I didn't own it and usually only drove it Monday through Friday for high school. Saved up cash and bought the '07 S2K. My first car.

My family's cars.

In the back is my mom's 00 Vette. It's a parade/show car, so it's AT and doesn't get driven hard like it should.

The middle was my 08 Evo. It was my DD but I drove it like it should every once-in-a-while. You might be able to tell from the wheels it's an MR, which is the AT with flappy paddles. That's only because it was .. a graduation present.. bought with my money. I expressed great interest in one to my mom (who despite have a garage queen, is an enthusiast and raced a 68 GTO way back in the day), and she did some research and found a GREAT deal on a very slightly used one in VA (we live in HI, so the road trip was kinda part of the whole thing). She didn't know I knew how to drive manual, so she picked an MR. Sadly, due to a very precise series of events, it went into a wall and I no longer own it

In front was my dad's Audi A4, but he just commuted with it. I was the one who drove the **** out of it It was a lease, so he traded it in when it was up.

Another one of my baby

@Jono I like that car. Practical and small, but it looks good and I bet it handles really well with what you've done to it.

Plus it's a Honda. I like Honda's

THANKS!!! Yeah it is very practical and FUN. There is nothing I can't fit in it. No pun intended. I can haul 3 mountain bike in the back. But I do have the rear seats removed (weight savings) but even if I didn't I bet two bikes would still fit. I even hauled out the Christmas tree after Christmas. All 8 ft of it. It really amazes me. I can even sleep in the thing. Haha. And then go tear up the autocross course. Not many cars that can do all that. Oh and did I mention the 32mpg in the city. And I don't drive it conservatively.

Nope.

I was going up an overpass onramp and it has a pretty sharp curve (probably a 65-70* angle) in it. As I was going around the curve, there was a big box in the lane and it looked like it had something in it. So I changed angle (not as sharp as a swerve), and it was directly on the perpendicular metal strips that separate the different pieces of a bridge/overpass, and combined with it just starting to rain (bringing up the oils), I lost traction, fishtailed, then regained traction. Sadly I was facing towards the wall when that happened.

After I sold the '98 Grand Prix GT I was able to lease this very fun car..... I too was involved in an accident (hit & run) that left her (Risa) totaled back in June '10

With some of the insurance money, I was able to put $$ down to buy this 2012 model on my birthday this past December. Meet Roxie...

Gotta love AWD along with the STi widebody kit that comes standard, and quad tip exhaust. Kudos to the many ninjette folks that had/have a WRX, because I've wanted an Impreza since the late 90s 2.5RS. I am indeed happy

I've briefly driven a friend's mazdaspeed 3. Very fun car. I really liked the shifter. It was solid, but smooth. Loads better than the Hondas my family has owned

I love the new Subie's. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one. Would have to be a 4-door hatch. I like how useful a hatch is. Subaru as the best blue in the business.
