Bought a new to me 08 250

was told it ran when i bought it , just hard to start. Got close a few times but no cookie. i got the Carbs off and ordered a rebuild kit. But the kid i got it from has literally screwed with everything. Lots of missing bolts especially for the fairings. He did give me a new set of Fairings for the bike. so far Ive changed the oil, plugs, lubed where needed. hopefully runs after i get carbs clean. only gave 480 for it with title and keys. Fingers crossed

Hi Jason, welcome! Don't use the needles or any jets from a carb kit unless they're stamped with the Keihin logo. Non OEM parts will keep you from ever getting it to run right! The gaskets and float valves should be OK.

This page may be of help.

Our member "ducatiman" runs a carb service and restored my 250 carbs to new condition for a very reasonable price. Mine had multiple problems, and he has all the stuff in stock.

Turnaround is fast. PM @ducatiman to get a price. In my case I needed a diaphragm replaced so it cost a little more. Quite a few of us have used his service... even us old-timers who always do our own work.

Depending on how many miles are on the bike I would also consider checking the valve clearances. Even more so if you suspect that a previous less than knowledgeable owner might have messed with stuff like that.
