2009 ninja. Reserve?
Is there a reserve switch on these guys or do you have to fully rely on the gas gage? How low can the gas tank go before you need to refill it?

how empty is it when it's empty? Does a light come on when it's using 'reserve'?

If your bike is Fuel Injected and has a temp gauge instead of a fuel gauge it's probably like my 600 and has a light that comes on with about a gallon left (Did you get a Owners Manual with your bike) |

Mine isn't fuel injected. I didn't know there were fuel injected 250s?

like crx said, looking at your odometer is the best way. the fuel gauge is really inaccurate.

I wouldn't trust the fuel gauge. Reset your trip-meter (the button at the bottom of your speedometer) to zero each time you fill up on gas. I usually fill up on gas when I reach about 320 km on the trip-meter.
