Delayed valve check

My bike has 6700 miles on it so a valve-check is past due. The bike has occasionally been ridden aggressively but usually stays between 6000-9000rpm under medium load. I'll be doing a 1700 mile trip soon (constant 70mph at ~8500rpm ) and I would really like to do all the maintenance myself (not a cost-saving measure, it's more of a 'pride' thing... My bike! Hands off! I do everything myself!) Unfortunately I have very little time (I met a special someone ... too much <3 <3 <3 to stay focused), so if I delay valve adjustments...

Q1: what's the worst thing that can be expected to happen?
Q2: what's the most likely thing that can be expected to happen?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Thanks, guys!

Note to self: definitely first check brain if working properly, then possibly check valves if working properly...

Wait, you post ad nauseum about turbocharging, FI, all sorts of scientific and mathematical formula yet don't know what the results of tight valves would be nor do you know the maintenance interval?

I got my 7500 mile valve check at 9500 miles and she ran like a champ the entire time.

Not at all.

I don't know whether tight valves are an issue on a *'09 Kawasaki 250r engine* and whether the manufacturer's maintenance intervals are too lax in the experience of people who operate these engines.

Just had mine checked, 52000kms (30,000mi) Still within specs and has never had an adjustment made ever. As long as your bike starts fine, isn't starting to use alot of gas, or was a tendency to stall and then hard to start 10-15 minutes after starting chances are valves are fine. If any of these symptoms start happening on a regular occurrence, start thinking valve adjustment.

P.S I regularly run my bike 9000+ rpms for hours.

When I said I just had them "checked", I should have said "checked again". Just meant to say they have never needed adjustment.
