Chicken strips?
Don't want to cause any heat or put people down or...praise anyone.
Just thought it'd be cool to have a non-competitive chicken strips contest. You post pictures on your strips and we see who rides how? Just want input before we start? Mine obviously aren't anything amazing, but thought it might be cool to hear some people's stories =]

This could be fun so long as people take it for the fun it is supposed to be. I've got obligations to the family right now, but I'll try to post up a pic in a day or two.

or, have your tires mounted at sportbike dynamics and he's kind enough to provide a lean angle gauge along with each install:

blink, if it is all in fun, then it matters not what your tires look like.
I thought that was the point?

I dunno. You get better traction when your bike is more upright. Safer thing to do is use body position to turn first, lean angle next as you need it. If you are using the right technique and turning with maximum tire contact, it should be pretty hard to ride all the way to the edges of your tires on the street. You just don't get the speed unless you ride like an idiot. On the track, sure, ride the whole tire, but I just don't see the opportunity on the street. Just my

Damn, Kelly, those chicken strips are still all there!
You better get to remedying the situation! @Floyd: I agree with you. This thread, as the OP suggested, is just for fun. I have plenty of chicken strip left on my tire. I weight so much that even my being slightly off-center of the bike helps immensely for going around corners without much lean.

Even after our last trip to the mountains, with proper form, you come home with at least a tiny chicken strip left. I didn't scrape pegs or toes once this past trip, but still had the time of my life on some very technical twisties! Kelly, I'm shocked at the size of your gigantic chicken strips! Those are the biggest I've ever seen!

you need to be really careful. you were scraping the pegs before the adjusters were installed. no big deal as the pegs fold and you're given ample warning you're approaching the lean limit.
once you installed the rearset plates, the first thing to touch during high lean angles is that kickstand mount, which will cause you to crash. if you keep sliding on it, the bike starts pivoting on it, lifting the rear tire off the ground. most racers who use rearsets also remove their kickstands and grind off that mount to prevent it from touching and causing them to crash. There have been several street riders who have rearsets that have totalled their bikes due to the kickstand touching. learn how much you can lean before it touches and start to corner by leaning off and keeping the bike in a more upright position to prevent catching that kickstand mounting bracket on the ground and causing a crash. looks like you've been very lucky, so far. |

lol chicken strips!!!!!! .....
hell I'm still trying to get those lil feelers (hair like looking spikes on new rubber) off both sides of the tires. Apparently I am better at right turns then left, so far. As that side has less feelers. as for the chicken strips.. hehe we will see if I ever get that far |
