Confirming rear wheel size & width

I'm about to go buy a new (well, used, from a store) rear tire for my '08. This whole time I've been reading the ninja250.org page on tire options, assuming the measurements were for/the same as a 250r. Now it seems that instead of the EX250's 16" wheel and 2.5" rim, the 250r uses a 17" wheel and 3.5" rim. Is that correct?
Thanks.

Yes.

Stock is 130/70-17

You can also run a 140/80 if you want.

Oh, really? I thought it's risky to go up in width due to manufacturer differences. I was planning on doing 120/(80-90)-17 or 130/(70-90)-17.

The tire manufacturer will tell you the appropriate size tire for your rim. Typically, three different widths will fit, one up and down from stock.

What brand are you looking at?
