dealership recommendation on parts
Hey peeps!
Haven't posted in awhile.. A few questions here: Why would a dealership tell me that "I can't put any other NGK spark plugs in my bike other than CR8HSA?" Reason I'm asking is because I researched some other threads, and there were some recommendations of: CR8EK CR8EIX There was a recommendation here to "Not use CR8HSA": http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61740 Why wouldn't I want to use that model? Why couldn't I use something that will laster better/longer? Toward the end of the call, he asked why I am inquiring about other plugs. Which I answered with my requests. He said he won't sell me the other plugs for my bike. The other concern I have.. Air filters. Some threads mention K&N or UNI The dealership only carries the OEM. Again, why wouldn't I want to use something that will last better/longer. Thanks for any replies. I have a 2007. |

Kind of helpful, only not really.
Don't all air filters filter air? |

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_...r_filter(s)%3F I use a K/N for my track 250 for the better flow, I've never had issues with stuff getting into my carbs even though I ride in dust storms sometimes. But on my street 250, I'm still using the stock foam. It works fine.

Thanks so much for the replies, Dino. Helps when people (such as myself) are learning about auto parts.

I've run a K&N filter in my airbox for over 5 years. I have never had an issue.
I don't do a lot of dirt road riding (some forest service gravel roads occasionally). Once a year I pull the lid off the airbox. The filter I have is nearly box-like and uses hose clamps to attach it to the Helmholtz resonators (the tubes that come down from the lid of the airbox). I clean the filter and re-oil it per the instructions and I am good to go. Seems like the majority of the filtered debris I find is likely dust, but the numbers of insects can be pretty amazing. Part Number KA-2586 if you are interested. I can't say Its really created any noticeable improvement, but there hasn't been any problems either. |
