2010 250R Smell from front end

Hello - hoping I could get some input on an odd smell I'm getting from the front end of the bike. I just purchased a used 2010 250R with 4600 miles on it. After a short ride, or even just idling for a few minutes, I start getting a burning smell, it's not overpowering, kind of smells like plastic/electrical burn. With the engine running I inspected under the bike as best I could, there's no smoke and no evidence of anything melting.

Later this week I do want to remove the front side fairings to get a better look. But has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks in advance!

Are you familiar with the smell of coolant?

Is the coolant or oil down from the proper level?

I would recommend not starting nor running it until you can get the fairings off to find the smell.

It could just be a plastic bag caught on the exhaust pipes. Have a look!

I know it's at least not oil, I changed the oil yesterday and the smell was present both before and after the change. It could be coolant - in order to check the level do I have to remove that right side fairing?

Hopefully that's it and the clamps just need some tightening.

You don't HAVE to remove it....just take out the fastener on the tip and carefully pull the fairing away. Use a flashlight to have a look at the tank.
