BikeBolts.com - Buyer Beware

I've had mismatched fairing bolts ever since I bought my bike (the joys of purchasing used) and I was hoping to clean up the look a bit with a Complete Fairing Fastener Kit from BikeBolts. Their website indicates that the kit includes fasteners for the Front Fender, Windscreen, Main Fairing, and Tail Section.

http://www.sportbikebolts.com/index....roducts_id=348

When I initially purchased the kit I opted for the Gloss Black finish on my bolts. Upon receiving the kit, a disclaimer was included that said I will have to use Standard size allen keys instead of metric because the powder coating adds a few mils on the bolt heads. Kind of annoying but not a big deal. I probably should have figured that anyway, but it happened to slip my mind when I was buying them. I wish they would have that disclaimer on the website, not after I already bought the things.

First major problem:
The bolts they include for the side fairings are 20mm long. That is far too short for this application. Out of the two, I could only get one bolt to grab anything and even then it was only hanging on by a thread or two. Not exactly confidence inspiring and would probably rattle out after a day of riding.

Next major problem:
The fasteners they send for the windscreen are not factory replacements. Although they sell well nuts in their Windscreen Fastener Kits, they do not include them in this kit. Instead, they give you a bolt, washer, nut combo. I have no idea why they didn't just put some well nuts in there. Despite being a bit annoying, I could live with this...except for the fact that they didn't include the bolts for the windscreen. All I got in my kit were the nuts and washers. The bolts weren't even listed on the Parts List they included with the package.

I sent BikeBolts two emails explaining these issues the day I received the package and a week later, they have yet to respond. If I receive an email from them resolving the issue, I will update this thread. Until then, I simply DO NOT recommend purchasing from this company. As far as I'm concerned, that was $30 down the drain. While I can still salvage the some of the main fairing bolts from the kit, I'll have to purchase the rest elsewhere, meaning they will not match...which was the entire purpose of buying the kit in the first place.

As a quick update, I sent BikeBolts a link to this thread to which they promptly emailed back. I'll let you make of that what you will...

Regardless, Steve is saying that I'm the first customer they've had that has asked why they use the bolt, washer, and nut system on the windshield rather than the well nuts, but now he's looking back at their kit to see if it can be improved.

Bob, I'd still hold off on ordering it. Hopefully they'll improve their kit for our bikes and I can update this thread once again.
EDIT: Just saw that you're probably ordering yours for the newgens. That kit may be fine. Mine was for the pregen model.

Just remember that the bolts for the main fairing, the two upper bolts should be no longer than 18mm, otherwise you will risk punching a hole into your fuel tank.

Did you decide to order the NewGen kit from these guys? I've lost/replaced several fairing bolts and have a delightful Frankenbike look going now that I'd like to clean up at some point.

Wondering if there was any follow up from the company?

The bolts at Lowes aren't the same so they look out of place unless you replace them all with the same style, and their washers aren't the right kind either. At least at my Lowes.

Yep, that. I've got bolts from Ace/Lowes/Home Depot. Different heads, different shades of gray, different washers. I'd like it to look somewhat normal.
