Yeah, now if only I can find a replacement fuel tank for it due to the previous owner patching a hole with Bondo 🙄🙄

I do believe so. Mechanic that was working on it said he only noticed it because he went to put gas in it and it seeped right through

a mistake waiting to happen. Mixing up of the fairing hardware during reassembly... use of incorrect bolts, too long and coupled with excessive force

Welcome to ninjette from downstate NY (Long Island)

if you can't find tank, it can be repaired quite easily. There's threads here on how to do it. Basically empty tank, remove bracket, weld/braze up hole in tank. Re-attach bracket. Should take about 30-45 min. I recommend brazing, easier on thin sheetmetal.

.
As Danno said, brazing the hole BUT I had problems with getting the tank to braze. It is very thin metal. What I did was a little body work, make a dimple after cleaned up, grind, get out all the rotted material and I cut a patch piece and epoxied it in there. Made sure it was sealed well and then added body filler, sand, prime and ready to paint.
.
Loctite, JB Weld are good for things like the tank because those epoxies are impervious to chemicals, gas, diesel, etc.

Welcome, a good tank sealer like red kote works well also.
