Like, usually. I have seen some that looked bad, but that was only a handful.

I'm not a big fan of LEDs shining down on the pavement. Reminds me of ricer cars and all the crap those guys do to their cages. I have seen some bikes, cruisers & sportbikes alike with a tasteful number of red leds that make the engine compartment seem to glow red. But too many LEDs and it quickly starts looking overdone.

As long as the person doing it takes the time and effort to hide them well enough that you don't see the actual LED/neon and just see the light it gives off, then I think it looks good. I've debated doing it to my own bike... but I never really used it that much when I had it on my ricer cars so I haven't justified it to myself yet

I think that as long as it isn't flashing/strobing/as bright as the sun then it looks good. I did mine simply to add visibility from both sides so hopefully someone taking a left turn when I'm waiting will be able to see me easier.

On the lights shining at the ground, I'm not a big fan. I like it when the LEDs are hidden and you see the light on the internals of the bike. The only time I've seen where the lights shown look good are adding red strips to accent your brake lights (light up when you brake) under the tail.

i had one of the brightest eurolite neon kits on my car back in the day, thing looked like a UFO going down the highway. personally, I like it, maybe it's my techie/sci fi side, but I think done tastefully it looks really cool.

Well, since that other thread is a "hey, look at this, ain't it cool" discussion and this is a "what do you think of LEDs" discussion, it's two different topics as far as I'm concerned.

So at the risk of getting you all PO'ed, here's my $0.02 on the latter (not the former) topic.

To me, these things are like getting a tattoo of your favorite band.

When you're young and rebellious, and the band is the flavor of the month, it's cool.

But when you're 50 and oldies stations are playing their songs, that Metallica logo on your sagging ass is going to look pretty damn silly.

I'm all for doing whatever you like to your ride. Put streamers on the grips and a basket with pink daisies on the front fender if you like. If it floats your boat, that's cool.

Some people might think you look like an idiot, though.

Personal opinion: These things are in the same league as helmet mohawks/pony tails, stick-on ricer cage farkles (like you're ever going to get anyone to believe your Jetta has portholes on the fender), tribal/flame decals (not paint), kits that make it LOOK like your hoses are steel-braided when they're not, fuzzy dice and ostentatious car air fresheners.

All harmless. All dorky. All the time. A sign of focus on form of debatable taste over substance and enduring, timeless class.

But that's just me. Somebody likes 'em. And pride in your ride trumps what the other guy thinks every time.

I have a simple test when it comes to personal expression. Will it really look good decades from now?

I grew up in the 60s and 70s. Remember the Avengers? John Steed looked good then. He still looks good today. And did every day in between. James Bond, too. Have a look and you tell me which are the timeless choices and which are flash-in-the-pan silliniess (yes, people really DID dress this way):

saw some cruisers at the gas station with blue glow. it was just distracting to me, I didn't really think it was cool. It was like a giant smurf with wheels.

Honestly, I don't like it. Buuuuut that is only because I see it on bikes being piloted by the shorts and flip flops types. But really, if you aren't one of those guys and you like this, go for it. Do what you want. Don't be afraid to do something without everyone's approval.

Under underglow ?

I really don't care about looking cool. I left all that years ago. I do think the underglow lights make for a safer motorcycle. There is a good chance I'll be putting them on my bike when I get it. My wife and I wear funky vests a person would have to be blind not to see, but we wear them every time we ride, solo or double. Ride safe my friends.

I have some that I am taking off of the bike I just bought a week ago and throwing in the trash. That should answer as far as my stance goes.

This is a great test for tattoos, not so much for anything else in my opinion. Since bikes, clothes, and so forth are easily changed. Its is highly unlikely we will still be riding these same bikes in 1 decade let alone several.

I tend not to be the trendy type but if you like them they are easy enough to remove when your opinion changes.

On a side note that I dont see being mentioned is legality. There is a lot of colors, types and locations where you legally can not put these on your vehicle. Motorcycles are cop magnets in the first place this might be just asking for a ticket.

I originally put them on to increase visibility at night. They came out better than I expected. I only used 4 LED strips wired to the license plate light. They also double as an easy way to know when my license plate light burns out, plus when cops tell me to disable them I just say they're hard wired to the plate light. They're not illegal here but I still get harassed -_-
