Brake Pads
Hey there, just bought a second ninjette for my mom and it will need pads to pass inspection
This may be a stupid question but are the front the same as the rear? I would assume so but I am not sure, and haven't ripped it apart yet. I am probably going with EBC sintered |

Yes, the front and rear brake pads are the same.
Edit: Oh, didn't see it was for a pregen 250. I'm not sure for those, sorry |

The one I am getting pads for is a 1998 ex 250.
It came with a parts bike but the pads got like 10k on them and new ones aren't much money so we are going new. |

I don't have a pregen either but looking at the ninja wiki, the front and rear have different part #'s.
http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/What_re..._I_consider%3F What people recommend for the pregen is a sintered front and an organic/ceramic rear which is softer to prevent easily locking the rear. Even with a sintered front and sintered rear, the part #'s are different. Hopefully someone else can chime in to confirm. The link above will give you the different brands and their part #'s. |

Well if I find the right part numbers on ebay, and the right brand I want (EBC)
I shouldn't feel cheap buying the cheapest one right? Because its the right brand and sealed package? The confusing part is the guide says the rear is FA 141 but when I type that in they come up as fronts... Front Sintered: FA 129HH Rear Organic Kevlar: FA 141 If anybody has links saved and know what goes on the front and rear please share. I would like to go with the numbers or at least the compounds listed above. I just want good brakes, front sintered and rear organic. All the stock photos and rear saying front and front saying rear is confusing the hell out of me! lol |

I have yet to figure out why they have different part numbers. Even the new-gen sintered pads have different part numbers...but they are EXACTLY the same.

Is there a difference between fronts and rears, price-wise?

I suspect there would be especially if you decide to go with 2 different compounds. There will probably be different price points for each manufacturer also.

I got EBC double-h sintered for the front which were $32 and EBC Kevlar organic for the rear which were $28. Might have over paid a little bit but I was going by closest to here so I can get them on the bike and get it inspected.
The guy who sold me the bike I bought my mom took the inspection sticker off it as we were leaving with it... |

Front Sintered: FA 129HH
Rear Organic Kevlar: FA 141 Those part numbers are correct. You're safe ignoring the text after that as long as the part number they send is correct. |

Ripped mom's ninja apart to find out that the front inner pad was completely missing
So I was like WTF? so I ripped the caliper off the parts bike, same thing! Checked mine and I had both My mom just explained anyone who loses the pad did it backwards. The tabs do down and that keeps them from falling out. Anyways upon taking the brakes apart, the front and rear pads are NOT the same part number and are NOT the same size So I am kind of confused here Anyway following the part numbers listed above on the wiki they were correct for the front and rear |
