oops i laid down my bike help?

hey all I'm a new rider out here in Hawaii. i took a turn wrong, still not really sure what happened, and i laid my bike down at about 10-15 mph. it landed on its right side and now I can't get it to start. its been a few days since the crash. it worked immediately after so i rode it down the street a little ways to get out of traffic, since it was a blind corner. after I stopped and got my **** back together i couldn't get it to start again. lights will come on for a little while. when i hit the ignition button it won't do a thing. the bike is in neutral, the shut off engine button is set so that it will turn on. what is my next step?

Welcome Kaziah!

Sorry about that, but your first step should be to check the battery terminal connections, you're after clean, clear and tight. Next would be to check for damage to the side stand and clutch levers as they have safety switches to prevent the bike from starting when they fail.

Hope you're not hurt and best of luck getting the bike running again, it should be something simple.

As for what you did... the one and ONLY time I have ever crashed was exactly like that. Pretty sure I simply didn't get on the throttle enough going through the turn. I'd had my license for about a week.

Sorry to hear that, it can happen to anyone. On the bright side, it's only 15mph instead of 51mph.I would check for any loose ignition components or maybe the carb flooded. It took my bike 4 cranks after I dropped it.

Yeah, those interlock circuits are picky. You need to electronically test those switches. They need to be closed to start. Test by unplugging terminals and bridging them with a paperclip.

Also make sure you have gas in tank by looking inside. Gas-level sender may have gotten damaged and is lying to you.
