In the hospital.

Hey Ninjette, some good and bad news, first I am alive, the bad news is my ninja is destroyed. I crashed on the 6th and had surgery yesterday. I shattered my pelvis broke my butt and broke my femur. A bone was sticking out of my leg. Everyone please I got lucky not everyone gets that. I was driving down a dark road fast and the road quickly ended. I have a rod in my right femur and a rod across my ass. To Ducatiman, The carbs didn't make it I am sorry. Let's ride safe out there guys and gals, God can call on 7s whenever he chooses. God Bless all of you.

Thank you sir, thank you all, this sucks but it didn't push my love for bikes away. I will recover and in time buy another ride. I must say I learned alot about motorcycles this year. Ninjette rocks as you all do. Have a good night the nurse has brought my pain meds.

Heal quickly Anthony! I'm glad you'll recover to ride again.

I had one real crash a couple years after I started riding. It was not as severe as yours, but it did require a couple visits to the hospital, and it changed the way I ride for the rest of my life. It happened because I was looking in my mirror too long and assuming everything ahead was fine. Now, about 43 years later, when I look in a mirror more than about half a second or do anything else to take my attention off what's going on around me, an alarm goes off in my head and my focus goes back where it should be. I won't mount a GPS display on the handlebar either... that goes in my tail bag and I stop to look at it.

Use what you learned to become a better rider.

Bike looks fixable.

I spent my youth at the hospital from motorcycle mishaps. You learn from each one (so they say). It doesn't really bother you until you get old; the it becomes constant pain. Just kidding, it only hurts while you're awake.

Forget about going to the airport. You will be getting strip searched every time.

Hi and good morning, I am doing well feeling a bit stronger everyday. I have nurses coming to my home every other day to change bandages and clean my Staples/Stitches. I have an appointment this Tuesday to take them out.
From time to time I get frustrated especially in the middle of the night when the medicine wears off and I am stuck on my back, I do think about Ninjette and it really does make me feel better. I am about to get into the shower, it’s a process. I thank you all especially you Ducatiman for reaching out. Lol for a while I was still receiving bike pieces in the mail that I had ordered like new Zero Gravity screen and my license plate cover. I was looking at a picture I had posted up and didn’t realize you can see my leg broken when I am on the stretcher. Zoom in on my boots. These posts made me feel so much better thank you all and you better believe this will make me a better rider.

Make the best of it you can. The learning process a definite positive. Many members offering advise have been down/hit. I myself was T boned by car 30+ years ago, foot crushed, unable to walk 4 months, blah blah. We all overcome, learn, grow.
Nowadays a retired, old, ex-cancer patient STILL RIDING! (knockin' on wood as I type this)

Get offa them drugs as soon as you're able, fully understand their (temporary) necessity, been there within the cancer thing.

Told my oncologist (after radiation/chemo, multiple surgeries) of my goal..."I WILL ride my motorcycles again. I can't ride my motorcycles while I'm taking your pills. I want to ride my motorcycle more than I want to take your pills." On my own I tapered my way off the narcotics after a long term of justified, necessary use. She was surprised and blown away when I told her NO MORE!

Continue to get well and look forward, stay focused, stay positive! Think about that Ducati you lust after!

Hang in there buddy! Imagine how free you'll feel soon when you're back on bike. You can feel the hum of the bike through your hands. Feel the wind flowing past your arms and legs. It'll be glorious!!!

All I got to say is WOW! Ouch that has got to hurt more than I will ever know !
( i hope)
Hang in there ! even if it's not like you have much choice right now, every day
the pain will get less.... sleep as often as you can and think about other things.
on the Lighter side you'll now have a butt and leg that can predict the weather
to great accuracy ! i.e. My butt hurts, is it a rain hurt or a snow hurt ? um... just rain..... time and experience will teach you that !
.....
My Mother had a snow knee that was very accurate ...worked every time !
it was so accurate that if she complained about her knee hurting I would go cover things I didn't want the snow to get on !
.....
unfortunately you'll probably get that now... the human body doesn't like to
be mushed up and it will complain for decades !
.....
I agree ! get off the meds as fast as possible, you can put up with alot more pain than you think you can there are ways to make your brain report less pain , it takes practice and perseverance.
I just got my 2012 250R Ninja and Love it after 5 years of no bike at all
and I am taking it real easy.... this bike may only be a 250cc but it acts like the 650's of old ! LOL
Any bike can be repaired so have hope ! if it's real bad it may be cheaper to just replace it with something else.... but it actually sounds like You got the worst of the crash, not the bike... which is sometimes the case.
it's still in one piece so that is hopeful !
.....
in your long recovery there will be times that you think "No I'll never ride again" and times when you'll think "No problem I'll ride " but it's the Brain that decides in the ultimate end ....
My Uncle crashed a Harley into a simi decades ago and spent 2 years in the hospital because of it... he went out and got on a friends Harley started it up and threw-up all over the place, he turned the bike off and said No I'm not going to ride today... his body was able, but his brain wouldn't let him !
he then went and got the water hose and washed off his friends bike .
He said all was fine till I felt that engine and all the years in the hospital come flashing back into my mind.... i just couldn't do it !
....
to My knowledge he never rode again.
it depends on the person ... You can do it IF you want to. my uncle didn't want to.... he did it for his friends !and it didn't work !
...
Heal up fast and correctly and get those doctors away from you as soon as possible.... their called practicing physicians for a reason. they love to Practice on YOU !

Hang in there !
Bob.......
