Clutch Cable

So in Canada it's impossible to get a clutch cable until the second week of september, to the point where Kawasaki doesn't even have any for a 2008 250R. Mine has been completely shot for about a week and a half now, I've done very minimal riding in that time and only noticed when my foot started feeling the shifting.

I've tried kijiji/ebay and even the Facebook marketplace (lol), but no luck.
Any advice?
And if you haven't noticed I'm trying to avoid waiting until riding season is almost over.

bikebandit.com sells tons of OEM stuff and I got my new clutch cable in under 5 working days.

How many miles are you guys getting out of a clutch cable? If not many have you lubed the cable?

I wish someone would figure out how to make a clutch-cable that you could cut to length and put the ends on yourself.
Then you could just buy a universal one, and make it fit whatever motorcycle you had.

The real trick is lubing that thing once every 500 miles or so to keep it from snapping. So far Ive had pretty good results keeping with this schedule, I havent had one break in a long time. Get a cable luber...they work great.

No idea why, but mine started fraying at ~3000kms.

It's finally winter and I finally got the cable, clearly I put it off long enough.

Ended up ordering it right from Kawasaki for $60.

Heading up to do the install in the morning. Woo

I guess some places have the equipment to do just that. I took mine to a place here called "Clairemont Cycle Supply" and got it repaired while I waited so I didn't have to order anything and I was back in business the same day.

I'm going to bump this because I'm pissed.
I meant to update this last year but I've been so tied up lately.

When I took my clutch cable to get the new one installed they told me it was cut. All the breaks were perfectly lined up and a clean cut was made.

Someone wants me dead and I have a rough idea who it was.

So for my post before this, no a clutch cable wont fray at ~3000kms, someone would have to do something to it.

Wow! That is a terrible feeling. I think I had a tire sabotaged on my cage years ago. Not a good feeling.

The only thing I'm thinking, if they wanted you dead dead, wouldn't a front brake cable make more sense? Not trying to justify that it was the clutch cable, believe me I'd be upset as well!

They might have thought that that is what they cut. Can't assume the saboteur knows anything about motorcycles!

The guy who I'm pretty sure did it just hates my boyfriend (long feud they've had) and is a complete idiot with anything automotive. I would leave my bike at his building sometimes in the summer and I guess he thought he bought a bike, so let's mess with it.

Could it have contributed to your inability to move when that car backed over you? I know you said you were honking, so I imagine that you saw it coming. Being in a parking space though, you may not have even had the ignition on!

Haha it had nothing to do with my accident.
Everything was inspected when the bike was taken to the dealership.

It was one of those pathetic little last second honks, and then another one when he had already hit me.

That's when people started yelling for him to move up.

And the bike was just on battery, not fully running
