New fender elim option

Haven't seen this one around before (so I hope it's not a repost!) but while I was scanning for an exhaust I came across this. Looks pretty clean to me.

$68 is a little pricey IMO, but hey, it's another option for a fender elim right? Looks like you have to order the license plate light seperately too.. Part number 46-0001

I still prefer the DIY.

The thiker wallet distracts people's view enough that they can't tell the difference between a chopped fender and an elim kit.

hmm not bad, but it doesnt seem like theres even enough room for a license plate light

Price is now $50. I just ordered one. Let the farkling begin!

This looks to be as simple and elegant a solution as there is.

I was going to order a fender and do the chop (when I do sell the bike I insist on having all the original parts either on the bike or included...just my personal thing) but the cost is close enough to this that it made sense to just order the bracket.

The bolts that attach the plate have built-in lights with wires coming out the back. The bolts are not shown above because there is no plate attached.

As for there not being enough room, sure there is. Some kits eliminate the light and, if needed, expect you to buy one of the ones that attaches TO your plate ($10 and under at Cycle Gear). They can just as easily attach to the bottom and shine up as they can attach to the top and shine down.

The classic 250 had a removable rectangular segment in the tail light which, when removed, would cast white light right onto the plate.

Check the reviews at that link. 7 out of 8 say it's junk.

I have some stainless led bolts that appear to be good quality... time will tell

Yeah, that was just the first example of a clip-on tag light I could find and it just happened to mention mounting below in the description (relevant to my reply). Certainly not an endorsement!

I really like the option of colored LED bolt lights, especially because I'd be replacing my blue reflector bolts.

Did you need a resistor for those bolt lights or did they already come equipped for 12v operation?

I think they're ready to go, and the instructions are quite clear...they don't show the need for one. I'm not going to install them until the fender eliminator arrives... do it all in one shot.

I see. Thanks! I was thinking that the batteries in the retail package would indicate that they'd be running off of disposable batteries in the package (not likely 12v; probably 2.5v), though it can still be wired on the LED side of the resistors to still include them.

I installed mine couple of days ago looks clean w/ little issuesthe rear fairing does not sit well w/ the product so you will notice gaps and it will expose the whole brake light too.

Got any pics?

The ones on the Jardine site aren't very good. I made my decision based on the illustrations in the installation instruction PDF.

I figured there'd be some gaps, but I'm intending to make some filler pieces if needed. Shouldn't be difficult.

Did you ever get this installed? I'm thinking about ordering this kit as well and wanted to know what you thought of it.
