is it me or the fender elim that is wrong?

Ok so I got a shinto fender elim a while back and just got around to trying to put it on..so far not been a good day.

After getting the stock fender off, and having to cut the l.e.d. turn signal wiring and and cracking a small piece of the screw hole around the rear seat lock I was ready to put the it all back together only to find that it doesn't seem to fit. the only holes in the fender are the 2 that the tail light bolt to. then I figure maybe they just didnt drill the holes I will hold it in place and mark where they are to be drilled. Another snag..the square plastic from the tail light hits before there it is in place. from the underside you can tell it needs to go almost a 1/2 inch forward after hitting on the top. I included the pictures hoping some one would see what I am doing wrong or if i should just order a different fender. on the last picture you can see where holes have been drilled in the lic plate holder but not the fender, is 3 holes in plate holder that some what correspond to the stock location.

Well after two of the worst days I have ever spent with my bike and more cursing than most sailors could muster, I have come to the conclusion that this fender elim will not work. There is no way for it to fit without cutting into the tail. The design is flat out wrong. The entire design is about 1 inch off from stock so that nothing lines up. How anyone could have ever got one of shinto's fender eliminators to mount up is beyond me, unless I just got the one that is different. If anyone has had any luck getting this to mount up please let me know.

As a side note, this is the first and only product I have ever gotten from shinto that wasn't absolutely wonderful and it took two days of testing to convince me that it is the product that is wrong not me.

josh,

before you throw in the towel on your FE, you may want to reach out to these other forum members who received the same FE you did, they may be able to offer some insight.
