New from Chicago

Howdy

My name is Sylvie and I'm a person who is looking to buy my first bike hopefully in the coming months. I've always known I wanted a small engine sports bike since I was a kid, and I am finally in a place in life where I can manage owning a bike. It's cool that a place like this exists still and I'm looking forward to doing some casual reading across the boards here...

So, I'll be seeing you around, and if anyone from around chitown hears about a 250 or 300 for sale , hit me up! I would take a look at a Honda CBR as well if i came across it

Welcome! This board helped tip my decision towards a Ninjette as well.

Welcome!

I lived in the Chicago area and worked in the city for 20 years, and would suggest passing on the CBR250R if you ride on the Expressways at all.

The CBR just doesn't have the ability to accelerate quickly enough and hold a high enough top speed for anything except city riding in that area IMO.

There are times when you just need to move out.

I'd also suggest taking a MSF Basic Rider course if you are completely new to riding. That, and have all the gear - and wear it all the time.

I'd probably go for the Ninja 300.

thanks! That is kind of why I decided to stick to desiring the Ninja over the CBR, I've heard/witnessed the comparative difference as you've described.

No problem with the gear and safety. As much as I love the feeling of freedom and speed, we all have to be fortified in both our intentions and our dedications.
