Scale models

As a kid I've always had the plan to buy a scale model from every vehicle I own. This way, at the end of my life, I should have a nice collection of scale models to show my children. They're also a great reminder of all the nice and worse moments you had with those bikes/cars.

My green kawasaki ninja 250r 2008 is my first vehicle and now I want a scale model, but I can't find it anywhere. Do you guys know where to find it?

If you find one, let me know. Ive searched all over the place too.
Im almost to the point of building a zx6r, and painting it to look like my ninja.

Good luck. I had the same idea and I've had a killer time finding any of the cars I own. And definitely not my 250r. Though, good luck!

I've been keeping an eye out as well.

Several years ago my wife bought me this cheap toy for x-mas or something because I kept talking about getting a bike. She said "here's your bike, now shut up"

I kept it on my desk and worked over time to break down the wall resistance! Like the law of attraction. At least it is a Ninja!

May I applaud you on your efford to record vehicle ownership with replicas of everything you will own. My recomendation would be to own expensive, collectable, and valuable vehicles. My second recommendation would be to find replica scale models and then purchase that vehicle.

Or you could commission an artist to carve a sculpture of your bike for you. That would be pretty cool. Expensive, but cool.

Mmmmm... yeah... I wasn't able to find anything useful in my searches either.

(Luckily I'm not really planning to do mods ;-))

I remember seeing some extreme model-building kits from Japan where some guy literally assembled the links to the chain and everything for some sportbike (think it was an R1). I think those kits are popular in Japan. Perhaps they have one for the 250?

All the cool model stuff are in Japan, tragedy back in March destroyed lots of suppliers. Probably the prices are going up for the stuff available.

Starting point? Find a supplier for these models:
http://pages.interlog.com/~khartlen/

Edit: saw a lot of 250 bikes from Tamiya but no EX250. Search for Maisto or Aoshima kits.

Nope. Tamiya doesn't make a new-gen Ninja. I don't think anyone does yet.

I usually go to the "models & kits" section of eBay every few days and search for "Ninja 250". So far...nada. You would think Maisto would at least have one by now. And I don't get what's with Tamiya. They can make a 1/9 scale kit of a Honda Magna 50cc, but no Ninja 250? It's pretty frustrating.

That's one thing I dislike about the diecast industry. They'll make diecasts of all sorts of obscure, weird, and rare vehicles but not of something like the EX250. http://www.idcow.com/ is a good place to look for reference info on diecasts, FWIW...

Why don't you contact the company and tell them of this high demand.

You could always collect them in 3d on your computer?

http://www.3dexport.com/3dmodel-spor....htm#ad-image3

Not really the same thing I guess. Just a suggestion.

Nice, but I don't like how everything is backwards and he smoothed out the lower fairings to flow with the tank instead of the upper. I wonder if those are easy edits to make.

I may get back in model building here soon. I was really into mustangs and built models of every one that I owned. Some of them were unique models not covered by the industry and I just had to learn how to modify and build them myself using the pre-made kits for parts. I say with a model of a bike in had, some sculpting putty, time, and imagination you could cook up a Ninjette. I plan to do this but right now time isn't something I have a lot of.

Here's one I got at Target a couple of years ago. It's not a 250, but it is a Kawasaki Ninja. It's about 11"x6". Battery operated, it does wheelies and has sounds. Press a button and it screams out " NINJA WHEELIE TIME!" Then it makes "vroom vroom" and screeching tire sounds along with music, headlight starts flashing and it does a wheelie. The crazy thing then takes off across the room! I have mine attached to a stand I made out of the original box because I have it on display and want it to do wheelies without running away. According to the Target site it is recommended for ages 3 and up so it is suitable for all of us. One review on Target's website site says: "Our 3 year old son thought this was great at first. Then, because it only does one thing, he lost interest." I'm sure most of us will not have that problem.

Target still has them for sale on their website, but they are no longer Kawi green; they are white.(If you go to the Target retail stores, they may have them in Green, but I'm not sure.) They are called "Kawasaki Ninja Road Rippers Wheelie Bike" and sell for $12.99.
Here is the link:http://www.target.com/Kawasaki-Ninja..._gwvub_1_title

Update: Ebay has them in different colors: green.white,green/white,blue and orange.

I always want to find scale models (the ones you build) of cars and bikes that I own. Sadly the vehicles I own aren't popular enough or have the credentials to warrant the making of the model. Need to get me that 350z lol. Tamiya makes some really great detailed models and those are mostly the ones I buy. Planning to build a gt-r when I have time in my life again

I remember seeing that there in 2008/9. Is it modeled after a real Kawi at all? These kinds of things are often just authorized brands applied to a generic model.

2007 Kawasaki Ninja Zx 6R.jpg
Picture of a real one

It's 'close' to the 2007 Zx 6R. Although it's hard to tell due to the black on the fairings of the toy, the front fairings look about the same. The muffler is obviously not correct. It is, however, closer to the real thing than a generic. Problem is, it's not a 250, except for the muffler as Buffalony pointed out.

I saw that one before and it's what I first thought of when I read this thread. It's crazy that their model market is so healthy that it supports aftermarket model detail upgrade kits.

I just don't understand why he assembled the chain piece-by-piece. Even Kawasaki didn't do that! They just bought an endless chain built to their specs from EK.

I don't think he'd be able to find a pre-assembled chain that small to the right scale.

I'm just sayin'

It could've been molded like other parts. The "Detail Up" kits could've come pre-assembled too, though I do understand that it's kinda silly to sell ASSEMBLED part to model builders.
