Pilot Street Radial from Michelin - Review
Last year I had spend my money on the Diablo Rosso 2, great tires if I may say so, but they unfortunately didn't last as much as I would like them to, installed them near the 20,000km mark I found myself having to replace them by April 6 2014 after a little emergency braking.
With an scheduled Iron butt happening on April 18, 2014 I found myself borrowing a OEM for the 300 ninja so I could do my iron butt run . That also gave me some time to find something that would last a little more. On May 15, 2014 I had the Pilot streets installed, but I failed at taking a picture of the brand new tires . Anyways, The starting mark for these tires was 37000km. On May 18, 2014 I went for my first track day ever with my 250, the tires did the trick well Front: Rear: That day I dragged my knee for the very first time as well Anyways, Not long after, End of June to be exact, we decided to take a trip to Deals Gap and the amazing clean roads of North Carolina. Tire paradise in my opinion because I don't know of any other place where I can take pics of my tires so clean. Down here we found ourselves riding in different kinds of weather and the tires maintained the cool and performed as expected!! Front: Rear: A second trip to the track followed on August 4, very uneventful and full of smiles and fun times . On September 14, a third trip to the track was in order, by this point the bike was already displaying the 51700km on it. Same set of tires, nothing has changed. Front: Rear: Yes that you see is small tire bubbles on a cold day (day started at 7c and slowly went up to 19/20c. Tire pressure was set to 28 Front and 28 Rear to accommodate for cold day and cold track. New to my review: Pros - The tires are now at 14700 km, and they look like new - very good tires for hot days (the few we had this year) - excellent tire for cold/wet days - sticky tire hold well in most situations - when you do skid for w.e the reason, the tire finds its grip really quick so you wont be kissing the ground. - last long Cons - It is a Sport Touring tire, so you can't push it as much as the DR2 but they hold their ground. - people will joke around in the track for you showing up with a touring tire and a bike with heated grips! , yeah they will think you are there to tour around the track ,until you pass the 600 on the turns then they return with a More update to come once the tires run out Last futzed with by afelotreyu; September 18th, 2014 at 11:09 AM. |

Just a silly question on the name..
Are these the Pilot Streets or the Pilot Roads, and 2?? I know there is a Road 2 (currently, Road 4s are out and getting good reviews) but I think the Street is numberless at the moment. Or am I wrong? I may be wrong.

@NevadaWolf those look identical to the pilot streets, it could be that the pilot road2 looks identical but if they are identical then they're essentially the same tire anyway regardless
there is no street 2 yet either but with how good the streets are in the first place it's not necessary

Nice.. glad to hear good things of em
I have the road 3, which I was told can last up to 10k miles and are even better in the rain. I might do 2 tracks sessions on them on my 2002 Ducati S4 to have fun with her and then the rest of the day on my ninja 250. |

mmm I need to get mine to the twisties soon the rear is starting to flat spot a bit ~5-6k miles other than that it's holding up great. Good to know that track riding doesn't really kill them really quickly though I assumed that a bit from rojo's thread review knowing how he rides (at least on track)

went to track on the Michelin Pilot Road 3's, West Palm Beach International Raceway. They are on my Ducati Monster S4. Normally ride pressure of 36f/42r cold, but at the track did 31f/30r cold. Did one session in the morning. They held great, I got to drag knee for the first time! It was warm, cloudy and the track was a little wet from rain earlier than morning. They still look new b/c they have less than 500 miles on them. |

The rear tended to last 5-6k of my over all long rides. Think the most I subjected them to was a 1000+ mile day. The recent big rides have all been with the Bridgestones.

also that's impressive I had the drIIs pegged for only lasting 1-3k miles I can reasonably get a set down the line with wear like that, though it'd probably be subject to track days which should accelerate wear

I love my streets. They look nearly new, I'm heavy, I ride hard, and they show little wear, and only slight flat spot right in the middle.

I have pilot road 2 and these look different from mine. Still, Michelin makes good tires.

They apparently rock. Plenty of very positive reviews of 'em scattered throughout the site.

on my 5th set of radial Pilot Streets . The steering feels quicker. Tyres may weight a bit more than the bias ply Pilot Street, but give better feel and a lot more mileage. my last set only went 6ooo miles . 1st set apprx 8400 miles. 2nd set apprx 8500 mile 3rd set apprx 6700 miles . i'm not commuting any more so very few straight up miles . also worked well in the rain. sometimes the radials are on back order, so plan ahead if possible
