Is there an aftermarket exhaust....
....that requires no shimming or jetting? I'm thinking of changing the exhaust just for cosmetic reasons. I like the way my bike runs and the mpg I get so I really don't want to monkey with washers and tuning. I was thinking about a s/o can I seen on ebay but they don't say whether shimming is necessary or not.

The concensus I have gathered from others is that most slip-ons won't alter your aspiration enough to need a rejet.

I can't say from experience but I would say to get your bike running smoothly you may. Each of our bikes is different and the conditions (elevation, temp, ect) are all different. That being said, these bikes come pretty lean from the factory as is. Adding a slip on removes back pressure, even if its just a little bit, which will lean the bike out a bit further. If your bike runs perfect and smoothly now without shimming then a slip on shouldn't make a big difference. But if the bike isn't as smooth as you would like but have lived with it because its not that bad, adding a slip on may enhance this issue.

Thanks Kerry. I may take you up on the offer. Gonna do a little more research online and see exactly what's out there.

I believe most of the aftermarket exhausts out are less restrictive than the stock exhaust (therefore running leaner) and the bikes from factory are already on the leaner side so shimming is usually a good idea.
