Hey Peanut is there any more lean you think you could get out of your bike by further mods?

You look damn good, I must say.....

Thank you. I think I can get more lean if I could get that "Giant Russian" out of my way!

Actually he's Czech and I did end up beating him in that race. He crashed trying to keep up when I passed him on the last turn of the last lap. It's on youtube.

If the rearsets were to be raised even higher than racing rearsets, would more lean angle be available, or would we run out of tire thread before being able to use it?

Nope. I'm really short so I already have the rearsets all the way up and I still come off of them sometimes.

What about raising the rear of the bike up an inch?

I know it effects the handling, but maybe you can gain some lean angle.

That's already done. Check out the other two pictures I posted with that one. I do lean more. This pic doesn't represent my limit. It's just a good shot.

Thanks Richard. How have you been? You missed a great race at Chuckwalla in November. A few of us from Colorado went down for a 30+bike grid.

Trying to recover from a torn arm muscle from the Harley race at Indy last August. Almost back to 100% and planning on some Willow Springs racing next year, along with the XR1200 races. Maybe I'll see you guys again next summer.

Richard, remember the BOTT races back in the day? Here I am at Daytona on the XR-1000. Hopefully the XR1200 is better than the XR1000 was.

When you have "chi" you feel the track so you don't need to look.

Nice! Mid 90s? The XR1200 is probably not much better. The thing tries to tie itself into a knot whenever you change direction. And, I just can't get over how tall and heavy it is. But still a lot of fun.

1984. Zero suspension, zero brakes, no top end but exciting in a dangerous way. If you were used to Jap bikes it was like riding around pulling an anchor. I got a fifth at Daytona, 11th overall for the year.

After a 5th at Daytona I got a lot of help from Dick O'Brian and especially Don Tilly (I was always crashing in practice trying to make it go faster than it could). I pitted with Jay Springsteen (great guy but he puked after each race) and the factory Harley team at Loudon. Then I made sure to pit with Tilly at Pocono (I almost had Tilly talked into letting my buddy Dale Quarterley ride Lucifer's Hammer, Church was sick for Pocono) and the rest of the BOTT races I made that year. He had a stock pile of extras that I could use for the race but then I had to give back. Tilly would always bitch at me but always gave up what I needed after I heard him bark. I broke my arm in the corkscrew at the old Laguna Seca track (in practice) but still rode the race and got another 5th. I really didn't enjoy the XR1000 and was happy to be riding a Yamaha FZ750 the following year.

This is before another endurance race at Daytona, Jerry Wood (Woodcraft) was my co-rider on the FZ750. I had Freddy Spencer's number for good luck. Jerry crashed in the chicane and I rode the last 3 hours by myself for a 6 place finish.

I was a fence monkey back then, watching guys like you race! My only cool story is that I used to race with Kocinski at Willow Springs. He gave me his **** tires for my TZ250. We used to sleep on some guy's floor at the Air Force base because we were too broke for motels. Hell, I couldn't even afford a set of new tires.

I've only raced at Willow once. I love that track. Dale and I got there the day before and I got to use the track (Honda had it for the day)on a brand new FZ750. Fred Merkle was their guy back then and he and I were the only guys on track. I guess Honda wanted to see what the Yamaha would do. I raced in the endurance race the next day with Dale and we placed second behind Dr. John ( we ran the Harris/Katana 1000). The thing was twice as fast as the Guzzi but they were so consistent while we were sorting things out a few times. We ran the whole west coast that trip, Willow, Sears, Laguna, Seattle, and Portland.
