A couple of picture references to the problem:

This won't reach...

...because this doesn't clear.

I'm hoping there's a solution that won't involve my getting out the dremel tool, but this is looking sketchy.

I've ground out a couple of 3mm slits in my R1 shock because I'm assuming the cast aluminum body is probably made with a reasonable safety factor. At least, more than the 250's frame. Once I've verified my clearances and get the suspension set up fully, I will have a full write up on this swap in the coming week or so.

you are gonna need to get out the cutter and trim around where the shock mounts.

I've found that wasn't necessary with the small clearances I've filed out on the shock. So far everything fits, from spacers to fasteners, with no binding.

The last step for me is to trim down my fasteners so that I have the correct amount of thread protrusion and do a final clearance check with the wheel on the swingarm. Pretty exciting prospect to be done with all this designing.

For the past couple of days, I've been struggling w/ fitting the rear fender. Then I remembered that alex has the hotbodies undertail. So to any other whackos out there who want to do this in the future, you gotta chop the stock rear fender a bit. Do'h.

With that said, the damping on this new-to-me shock feels pretty good to bounce up and down on.
